Hey John, let me know when you do yours, I need to get better screen rubber for mine and will join you when you go to Woolies, probably take my car there (I've had sampled from their bins, but without me having the car there, I didn't get it right)

No problem at all.
I look forward to seeing you again.
I'll give you a call when I'm at that stage.

I've had a practice on a random screen from my local scrappy, and the corners are easy to do, using a template to cut around each side (a coke can in this case), and then crushing the glass after jiggling it first with a pair of pliers and then cutting the laminate off with a stanley blade.
I'll be doing this to my build and getting some screen rubber/trim from Woolies, which is just up the road from me.
The screen at the bottom is not advisable to cut as this is where the scuttle bonds too apparently.

Am I missing something?
What is with all the spam being posted in most sections?

Has anyone tried this yet?
The 406 screen is laminated and I've cut plenty of laminated glass in my time at work.
I'm just wondering as I'm thinking of rounding the corners and instead of cutting the bulkhead and moving the windscreen wiper motor etc.
5  Extreme Deals / Buy and Sell Forum / cut and welded 406 rolling chassis on: August 18, 2018, 11:05:08 AM
would anyone be interested in this chassis i have? it's had all the cutting and welding done to put a body kit on.
i've taken most of the metal parts off of it that get welded on.
no engine, wiring loom there
i could let you have doors for it.
let me know before it gets scrapped two weeks today (Sat 1st September)
John

Beautiful project. Some excellent ideas and work.
Loving the idea of the extra metal for the quarter panel on the B post.

Foir those who are following this, after a good conversation with Kev from Extreme , i've decide to scrap this car and try and rescue as many of the metal add ons as posssible to put onto the mint car.
i'm sure some have thought this already, but i'm the kind of person that gets very blinkered.
I've already cut the car up and got the rear subframe in, i haven't taken photo's as i#ve done this after work and my phone has been dead.
i'll post some pictures at the weekend.

a quick update as i've been very busy with work and lazy with this heat we're having   Shocked

I've cut loads of the back out to get the exhaust in so i've put a subframe in to the back

this will be clad in steel all nice and tight

I've also got the rear rubber holders on for the Mondeo rubbers, and fitted said rubber

i need to get the top bit done near the hinges now and that will be that  Grin

can anyone tell me what side light and indicator to use for the headlights, and where to get them from, please. I'm planning on making my front end in one so would like to get these done and in.
Does anyone have any of the lights for sale?

i've been busy!
the 2.0 engine is out

The exhaust is fitted

i've moved the car over to give me some room and i've tidied up a little.

forgive my welding skills, or lack of, but part of this project is to learn how to weld well amongst learning other stuff

i'm really enjoying it so far  Grin
