Good thinking Fletch................those start around €16000 here undamaged, which is about 13.500 pounds.
So a way to go before they are 7000 pounds!

I don't think a Gallardo would make a good kit because for the price of a good replica you can probably spend a little bit more and buy a used one (or at least in America you can). R8 would be nice, but they're Audis and in 5 years the older ones probably would've depreciated enough to buy one for the price of the replica...

I know some people might assume a replica hypercar to be fake, but I think that's the way to go. Plus, I don't think anyone would think that Murcielago to be a replica, nor would I believe a high quality SLR McLaren kit to be. Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren FTW!

I think the cheapest second hand Gallardo Ive seen is about £60k, I estimate a Gallardo replica build to be about £20k. Do the math.

Zagato750gt theres one here for £8500 ono so you may get it for £8k low mileage? which is a lot less than £13500 the kit wont be ready yet so i estimate that the price would go down by the time its ready.

(I am his wife typing his response)
Let's not forget that Extreme is looking for is, something where the donor car is accessible to all or majority regardless of the country, cheap, simple and can turn a profit not for just themselves but the ones that build and sell.  He said the Batmobile is a fun concept but how many of those do you really want to see runnig around at  the grocery store or driven to Parent's  day at school. The newer Batmobile looks better and actually the he thinks the Warthog from Halo would be better without the gatling gun on the back.

And to the gentleman with finished 005 360 looks and sounds nice but better in yellow-javascript:void(0);the Wife

It is very hard to explain how to pic a donor car, but the clio V6 will not work, It has a lot to do with the middle of the steering wheel and the middle of the front wheel, If someone understands what I mean then they could maybe draw a pic to explain to people, Now we have sorted out how to lengthen the wheelbase on the MR2 this will help to use it as a donor for most cars (low sports cars)
I do appreciate all input from members no matter what idea they have.

is it the fact that the steering wheel will be so far back in the cockpit?  i know the pic is a bit decieving but the wheelbase is only 1 inch out. never mind i thought it was a winner i leave it to the experts lol

With So many MR2's being used as donor cars, they are in danger of becoming quite rare

Can I have a replica MR2 based on a ford focus please :-)

Or... how about this one... A replica Capri.. like the one the professionals used to drive... complete with vinyl roof.... they are quite rare :-)

Sorry to derail a sensible thread with sarcasm.. im bored at the moment ....

Wife typing- So will the MR2 be the base donor or is it just something you were using for example?   And he is undecided about which would make a next project kit at this time.

I think the Gallardo should be taken off the poll because Extreme are gonna build it anyway, they already have the moulds so what the point putting it in the poll?

This is true. I just had thought, if extreme can put a motorbike engine in a smart car, can they do it to an mr2 for example. I saw a zonda on top gear last week and that sounded real high pitch like a motorbike. So what do u guys/extreme think? an MR2 based zonda replica with 1000cc motorbike engine? Plus that would make extreme the first to do a zonda rep.

you could easy put a bike engine in but the car is nearly 3 times the weight of a smartcar and you need to think about the clutch etc.. the 1000cc bike engine (gsxr 1000) puts out about 160bph which is loads below a standard mr2 turbo (250bhp).. so although you would benefit from a hi-rev'in engine sound thats about it... mind you if you stuck 2 of these engine in.. lol then you might be onto something

My opinion is the MR2 needs 2 gsxr 1300 hayabusa engines, this is possible and we will do it if someone wants to spend the cash, the gsxr 1000 would be ok with turbos and would be around £2500 cheaper than the 1300 engines , but you could get up to a 1000BHP from 2 turbo hayabusa engines !!!!
A 1000 BHP will cost you £15000 with out installation (£5000 for installation)

for 18000 you could get a hyabusa v8
not including fitting.
