im working on my car tonight Nigel and have got them to hand so I will take all the no's etc and let you know.  They are ordered off the web from a company called struts direct.  I will give you the serial numbers etc you need when I get in later.  ;)

Unless some one beats me too it ?

Not the cheapest place to get them from, but this link has various end options and the extended length of the one you have (550mm)

http://www.strutsdirect.co.uk/components/variable-force-gas-struts-sd02-range.php?products_id=1052

Now we just need to work out what car uses that strut & get a pair from a scrappy!

http://www.strutsdirect.co.uk/components/variable-force-gas-struts-sd02.php

This gives more info & describes what the numbers on the code mean.

The SD02 gives the pressure range (75-650N), 250 relates to the stroke in mm and all the other dims are shown in the link (8mm rod, 18mm outer etc etc.)

The variable rods are shipped at max pressure & you can vent them to reduce the force if you need to.......carefully though cos you really dont want to go too far!!

Hi if you are looking for a cheap option I have just used a pair of struts from a Peugeot 406 Estate about a 200 model but think they are all pretty much the same...
paid 5.00 and are in mint condition.
Work fine - also whilst wandering around scrappie came across a car - dont ask me what it was - but it had bolt in nipple ends ..
ideal!1

Can anyone advise on the best 'bracket' or ,termination' options for the gas struts (i.e. steel ball, plastic, pinned etc)?  Are there any pros and cons to many options available on the web site?

Thanks

Hi just read the above comments with interest as the builder of my car has used a very basic support and would like to change to gas struts, can anybody advise rear the preferred fittings for the struts and locations?
Thanks
