Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

Cheers Guys

Forgot to say about my ABS fault
After renewing both rear sensors and both hubs with bearings and reluctor rings, it was still showing ABS FAULT
Traced it back to a broken wire between pin 8, on the ABS Module, and the connector at the rear under the car
Just run another wire, soldered both ends, heat shrinked and bingo, bye bye fault

Anyway another little update
Painted the front inner wheel arches black today, tidied it up no end  Wink
Also raised it a little as it has settled down and was too low

Then fitted my newly painted engine side panels

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

That engine bay looks great Mick, hope I get mine as good as that.
Is the engine fixed down or can you lift it up to get to the boot, that's what I'd like to do to mine.
Cheers.

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

That's exactly what I mean.
My car will be my every day vehicle so I would like to make It as practical as possible.
Keeping the boot is a must for me. Is it hinged and are you going to fit gas struts on the fake engine as well.
I would be interested in seeing how you do it if you are and I would like do the same.
Cheers Mick.

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

I used some Mk 3 Ford Mondeo rear door bottom hinges. I just cut them to shape, slide it up the back of the frame and bolted it in
I made up some support brackets for the front of the engine, the back of the car, welded them in and just use a M8 bolt at each end. Undo these and lift up the frame with engine

I intend to fabricate some brackets for some gas struts, so when i undo the M8 bolts the frame will go up and stay
If and when I do it I will take plenty of piccies for you
Mick

Little update

Can't really see much in the photo but trimmed the rear bulkhead today
Not much to do now  Grin

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

That would be great Mick if you could take some photos for me of fitting the gas struts to the fake engine.
The hinge sounds a bit tricky for me but maybe I could use some sort of piano hinge for mine.
Cheers Mick.

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

Thanks Mick for the pics mate.
I can see your framework around your fake engine is actual box section steel where as mine is just fibre glass, so my engine would have to be fixed onto a sheet of ply.
Cheers.

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

Took the car to iMEX Autosport today, just at the back of Brands Hatch Race Circuit
They sorted out my suspension and now she drives like a different car. Not that it was bad but now it is perfect. Chuffed to bits
Mick

To be continued..........

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

Forgot to mention but does anyone know what this pipe is ( arrowed in Red )

A quick look, because I needed to go somewhere, it seems to go up beneath the throttle body
Unbeknown to me, it was being rubbed by the auxiliary belt pulley, and is now in two parts

Looks like an easy fix, just wondered what it is exactly
Cheers

Re: Mickey_London's Build Diary

The valve on the left is the tank venting valve
The line goes to the intake (throttle)
