The small second pipe that runs alongside the main filler is a 'fill vent' breather, this allows the air to escape from the fuel tank as you fill it with petrol. Forecourt nozzles have a vapour recovery system which minimises fuel vapour escaping to the atmosphere. The fuel tank main breather system uses a carbon foam filled canister that catches fuel vapour, the ecu is programmed to estimate when the cannister needs emptying, a valve then opens to the intake of the manifold this draws air through the cannister taking captured fuel with it purging the cannister of all fuel. This process is repeated over and over again.
I used to refurbish and rebuild forecourt fuel pumps at gilbarco, the vapour recovery system is strictly adhered to and is a critical part of the pump due to goverment regulations.

What have all you builders done with this vent and cannister

I fibreglassed some brackets to the top underside of the F360 wing and attached it up there, there's just enough room to fit it in and hide it behind the wheel arch lining.

Alex, as Dangerrous mentioned, the EVAP canister is part of the part of the emissions system for your car and is monitored by the OBDII. It uses a purge flow sensor to monitor its activity. Without it your emissions can sky rocket and trigger countless fault codes - usually in the range of P0440 to P0457.

Oh no  :-\
There are a few people on eBay breaking 406 Coupe's
Maybe they will still have them. Wouldn't of thought they were in demand
Well not until people on here read what Dangerrous and Lacie have put  ;)

The EVAP canisters are supposed to last the life of the vehicle so its not really a high demand item. They're not that expensive to purchase direct from Peugeot if it comes to it.

Not really. I do have a record of the modifications and major parts of the build but its mostly in paper format for the IVA and registering on DVLA's BUIR.

A little update
Finally got some parts to be able to fit the fuel filller and vent
Here's a pic but not really much to see

It looks as though the small vent pipe is kinked shut but air flows through nicely

A little quiz for all you eagle eyed, or sensible ones that labled their wiring
Can anyone tell me what these connectors are for, I can't remember what these two are off
They are all at the back of the car

And the Black connector in this picture, the white one is for the original Peugeot 3rd brake light

Cheers
Mick

Hi Mick, just a reminder..... Don't forget to earth your fuel neck, failure to do this could end up with a build up of static and a bang at the petrol station. :-)

Hi matey mate, I am assuming one is for the centre interior roof light?
One of the rear ones for the boot central locking mechanism?

Cheers
