Update time
Whilst I am waiting for the screws to sort out my door windows, I decided to start on the CS style door sills yesterday
Because the metal I have is 2mm thick I am having to do each side in 4 parts, so it follows the shape of the original eXtreme sills.
Being 2mm thick it is hard to bend to the shape and looks quite flat
So to start of I ground out some of the fibreglass panel and bonded on the rear and front parts that make up the face of the sill
Sorry no pics of this as I was in the zone and forgot
Anyway that was left overnight to go off
Today I set about measuring and welding on the bottom part of the sill
Again this was in 2 parts.
I offered up the rear part and scribed it into the original Peugeot sill, cut it to the line and then welded it on
Fully welded along the original sill and fully welded along the front face of the CS style sill
Now when I had finished this part I had an ' Og F**k ' moment
The heat from welding the bottom part to the front CS face radiated up and made the bonding come unstuck and it had slipped
So i got my new Dremel out, ground out as best I could the bonding paste, reapplied some more and screwed it back up
I then did the same to the front part of the sill, but this time I made sure the radiated heat was to a minimal and fingers crossed it worked
One of the jobs I have to get done is to sort out the cross member, on which my radiators sits
It has been pushed up, it was like it when I bought the car, but completly forgot about it, until today
You can see it in this picture
So I set about removing the radiator, need a new one anyway.
Then once the radiator was out I could see that my Air-con condensor was it a sorry state, so that is going to be replaced along with the radiator.
This is where I had visions in my head of going mad with a hammer. The fans and surround will not come out with out a bit of trimming, losing skin on your hands and a lot of swearing
I am lucky at the moment that my car is yet to be painted, so I was a bit rough with it
Anyway I removed it, calmed myself down and with a big bit of wood and a big hammer I straightend out the cross member
This is how it looks now
And whilst I was laying down taking the pic I thought this made a nice picture, especially when she is painted
What a nice sight for someone if they were ever run over by one of these cars
And my soon to be replaced parts
Mick
To be continued..........
