Replica Engine mods
« on: July 28, 2014, 04:39:06 PM »
Hey Guys,

Just wondering has anyone done any changes to the fake engine kit to make it look like the real deal? e.g. metal attachments and hoses etc.  ;)

Very old post this, strange nobody replied. I guess we need more active users.

I did this to my 360, making the bulkhead tomorrow. Real ferrari F360 Modena parts (a few more in boxes). Will make brackets so the F360 upper engine frame acts as a cross brace between the rear shocker mount points.

wow, really nice job there.. Love the way the light falls on it, I would be tempted to put some little white LED's so it lights it up at night..

Was thinking the same, and someone else suggested. Could end up like the Delorian time-machine though. I was messing around with the parts last week, and borrowed a laser projector from our dance studio room (works ok off the 12-240v car transformer). Need it 100% before I start doing proper lighting in there ;-)

Thanks. Mostly on ebay, the ebay store of www.exoticcarparts.eu, parts3000, gat*ersatzteile in Germany (for the Plenums) and hillsmotors (who were quite superb, I got a great deal on a damaged engine frame, negotiated a lower price with them directly on the phone). I guess the whole lot came to £1500, maybe a little more

Wow that's an expensive mod, but it does look authentic.

Anybody know where we can get the 360 fake engine cover?

I found a 430 engine cover that costs £300 for mr2 that could work on our cars with some modification.

Hi guys. Here's my replica engine on my dna430 with a 3 litre v6 underneath.  I loved doing the bits for the replica engine. I went to town with it originally when it was still on mr2 engine underneath by fitting metal and hoses etc but then when the v6 went in I had to butcher it further for clearance so then I put in real pipes and mafffs etc. it's not exactly like the real thing and I love people's reactions when I says there 6 baked bean tins on it sprayed black and red. Lol. I also have a neon light that comes on with the side lights. Very essex.

Chris

You can get these from MR2kits in the UK, listed under their GTF parts, £300:

http://www.mr2kits.co.uk/shop.html

Some great posts on this thread, it'd be nice to see what you've all done regards the engine dept. That large engine bay for all to see is like a big shop window, no point in doing this in half measures!
