I decided that I need to start sorting out the wiring in the doors.
As usual. A complete mess by being wired by a orangutan.
It was so bad I had to completely remove the door. Cut every wire and clear the lot.
There should only 8 wires in the door. Not 25 and a bundle of mess.
A two man job getting the door off. It weighs a tonne. I never expected it to be so heavy.
Once all the wiring was removed the door was put back on. Talk about a job and a half.
Trying to get it to line up and close again took ages and a lot of swearing.
I plan to rewire the doors completely. Nice and neatly as it should be done.
I will get to do the other door later but the window motor is dead and even with a direct 12 volt supply nothing moves. Only the wires get hot which indicates a nackerd motor or a stuck window.
More later.

A difficult task now which some of you will find offensive and needs to be x rated LOL. but is required.
One of the biggest problems with Cerberus is the door mirrors.
They look nice but are useless. Firstly they don't fold in. Secondly they are bonded to the door directly meaning if some idiot person not give way and bashed the mirror etc the mirror wouldn't give meaning that the whole door would be destroyed. If the mirror got smashed off. It wouldn't be just a replacement mirror but the whole door and side of the car would get smashed.
Another problem is because they don't fold in. The car won't go in the garage. There to wide.
So they have to come off.
The only way to take them off is to cut them off.
Yes I'm going to electric hacksaw the mirrors off my Lamborghini.   :o
I did feel like I was cutting the horns off the bull :o I was supprised how heavy the mirrors are. There like bricks on the side of the door.
Now there off. I plan to replace them with some replica ones that fold in or maybe completely fit a different style all together.
I wouldn't buy real Lambo replacements there £1000 second hand :o
So watch this space.

I will update with more progress as it comes.
TTFN.

SACRE BLEU!!
A mans gotta do .....etc

Best of luck buddy, because of the shape, it would be quite hard to get a folding version, unless it pivots on the corner nearest the glass with a semi circular track cut in opposite the pivot. You may be able to convert your existing ones to this with some work and a big helping of luck lol

Cheers

Just a quick update on this weekends progress.
I have finally finished pulling out all the old wiring that doesn't belong to the car.
Anything not MR2 has been pulled out. All that's left now is the origional cars wiring.
I can at least now start rewiring the extras with fresh new power supplies and new wiring.
Being a electrical engineer by trade the rest is now child's play. (I hope) :-\
I have never had and seen such bad wiring. The whole lot was a complete bodge. Joins on joins. Cables twisted together and taped. No solder. Loads of bare ends ready to short out. It's a miracle that there wasn't a fire.
Photo below of another pile of wires pulled out of the car. All this cable is extras that all the previous owners have added since the conversion. if it's not MR2 its in this pile.
That's it for this week. I'm having a few days away from the car. Gotta spend some time with the wife now. I'd rather play with the car tho. It doesn't answer me back. LOL :o

Here we go with this weeks progress with the rebuild of Cerberus.
I managed to get some jobs done with juggling work and the heavy rain.
I have finally got around to removing the headlights to yet again find another nightmare.
After a lot of swearing I finally cut the light units out as they were bodge bonded to the body using bath sealer.
The wiring behind them was again wired by a orangutan.  Usual twisted wires onto the back of the bulbs held in place with tape.
It gets worse as there is no adjustment in the lights as they have been fibreglassed in the housings. So it looks like I will need to source replacements.

One good thing is that my new turbo arrived.  :o it's amazing that the turbo in the photo is the same one that came out in its nackered state. It looks brand new.  :o
My truck fitter friend will pop over mid week to refit it and hopefully Cerberus will breath life again.
Now that I've sorted out the ignition switch as it needed re wiring it's ready to fire up.
I managed to repair the passenger side window motor. A broken motor brush was the fault so I made up some new ones using the carbon from a old Hoover motor.
I have been told that the motor is actually a real Lamborghini part costing hundreds so if this is true I'm glad I managed to repair it.
Have you ever tried to refit the motor by connecting up the cables around the pulley wheel. After lots of swearing and cursing I got it back together. Hurray the Window now goes up and down.  ;D

To finish off with this weeks progress I will tell you about my speedo.
As my MR2 is a 1990 REV 1 car it has a mechanical speedo drive.
Now I have no idea why you would buy a later speedo head. Change the sensor to the wired version and then bodge solder it durectly to the back of the dash.
It took a lot of work to resource a new gearbox mechanical drive unit and speedo cable. It as also hard to find a nice speedo head as well.
My new speedo head is a TRD mechanical version with 300kmh showing on it  :o
I quite like the 300 kmh on it. I might leave it alone or I could change the face to mph but as it's supposed to be a Italian replica kmh looks more realistic.
I managed to get the replacement speedo drive from Toyota direct as a new part. Clever device which why it costs so much from a main dealer.
I'm glad that the Murcie has so much room around the engine because on the actual MR2 you need to remove the engine mounting to fit it.
It was very easy to remove the old one and refit the new one.

That's about it for this week.
I've got to fit the new speedo cable during the week and get the turbo fitted so I will update next week.
