Re: Cerberus here we go.

Time for this weeks last update.
I was planning to take this weekend off from the car but as it was raining I thought what the hell.
So I have started with the complicated task of fitting the headlight lenses.
My first job was to refit the silver rims on the main headlights. I left them off on the mot as the left and right adjuster screws are just behind them.
Now that everything is lined up I won't need to disturb them again.
The rings simply screw on but I add alittle tiger seal on the corners just to make sure they won't drop off.
Nothing worse than having a chrome ring rolling around inside your headlight with a sealed lens   Undecided
Now that the rings are fitted it's time to start fitting the lenses.
A while ago I brought these replica plastic lenses off flee bay. I decided on these instead of the cut glass as they look much more realistic.
It's nice to have slightly raised lenses against the body. Exactly the same as a real one.  Wink
A while ago I cut the lenses down so they sit flush in my lights ready.
To fit these lenses I fit some rubber trim around the cut edge to make the edges perfect.
Now everything's ready I fill the top and side edges of the lights with tigerseal and simply push the lenses down into it.
Once everything's lined up I will now leave it until Monday for the sealer to dry.
So that's the first part of the lenses sealed up. I still have to seal along down the bonet side and front. But I will do that once the tiger seal is dry.
So that's it for this week.
Lots of things to do so more next week.  Wink

Re: Cerberus here we go.

Time for this weeks update.
I have been busy carrying on with fitting the headlight lenses and have refitted the windscreen scuttle panel.
This Is a pretty boring job as it takes a lot of time to get this right. It has taken me days to get the lenses perfectly sealed.
Fitting them into position takes a day as you await the tiger seal to dry. Next day you have to apply the 1st layer of sealer all around the lens then allow to dry.  On the 3rd day I sealed the bottom of the lens. Then to finish off next day to get the finished edges. Very boring and time consuming to get right.
Now that they are fitted the lights look fantastic.  Cool
My next job is to refit the windscreen scuttle panel. This took 3 days as the panel is in 3 parts. I cut several wood blocks to wedge the panel against the boot lid so I can apply pressure as the tiger seal dries.
To finish off the lights I needed to make the little panels where on the real lambo the headlamp washers are located.
To do this I made 2 templates out of cardboard so I could trim them for a perfect fit.
Once they were shaped to fit perfectly I transferred the shape to modellers plastic card.
Now that they are a perfect fit I give them a coat of plastic bonding primer and then a good couple of coats of satin black paint.
I leave them over night to dry.
The next day I fit them to the car permently by using tiger seal and leave them overnight.
Now that the lights are all finished the front of the car looks great.  Cool very satisfied with the finished job.
Now it looks like a proper lambo.
To finish off this week my new blue plug leads arrived.
As I have got blue hoses everywhere having red leads looks alittle odd. So I have replaced them with blue ones.
Finally the engine bay is finished and it looks fantastic  Cool
The last 2 photos show before and after engine rebuild.  Wow what a difference.  Cool
The car is coming together finally.
I'm planning to tax the car on the 1st of august so then it's finally on the road.  Shocked
Yet still loads to do tho.
Next week I am having my auto electrician friend around to fit the cars new alarm system so it can be locked and immobilsed by the key fob.
I am getting a top notch car media system with satnav fitted with a pop up screen  Cool
To finish off the electrics I am investing in a Tracker! Every supercar has a tracker so this one will as well.
It would kill me emotionally if she got nicked by some scumbag so I will do everything possabke to protect her.
More next week.  Smiley

Re: Cerberus here we go.

Hi everybody.
Finally time for a update.
Cerberus is now 99% complete. She now has a media system stereo, a top alarm system and a tracker fitted.
I have finally had a dry day to take her out for a nice long drive.
If there's even a sniff of rain in the air. She isn't coming out to play.
I took the car out for a small ride last Sunday afternoon as the weather was good but ran into a few problems.
As I have done so much to the car there was a few small niggles.
She blew the intercooler pipe off twice as the adapter fitted wasn't quite right.
When this happens the car just dies and cuts out.
So I have made a few modifications to now clamp the hose correctly.
There's bound to be a few more bugs along the way as the mileage builds up.
She's a amazing car to go out in. The attention you get is incredible. People runnng along behind to holding here phones hoping to get a photo. People hanging out of there car windows on the motorway taking photos.
You don't need to be a celebrity to get attention. But If you don't want to be noticed than she's not the car for you.
As always I have taken photos of her in her as she stands at the moment.

Re: Cerberus here we go.

Time for a update.
Something's cropped up on me Lambo.
During the weekend I did some tunnel blasting.
My mr2 turbo engine hits the rev limiter at 8.5k rpm.
I held 30mph in 1st gear through the tunnel.
The engine was Reving at 6k rpm.
The car sounds fantastic as it's straight piped through and now I'm deaf.
The only thing is that my temperature started to rise to around 3 quarters.
She didn't go into the red but she went above the normal.
Once I dropped the revs and drove normally the temperature returned to normal.
I know there's not a lot of fresh air in the tunnel and I was only doing 30.
This is the first time my temperature rose above the normal.
Looks like me cooling system needs a overhaul.
As I do everything properly I decided to change the thermostat and fitted a new alloy radiator.
Better than the old crappy steel one.
Firstly the thermostat was well past it. Probably the origional. Something I overlooked when the engine was out.
when I removed the old radiator what came out of it resembled what happens the day after you've had a curry.
Even tho the system has been well flushed before when the engine was removed I guess the old rad was so rotten inside.
I gave the cooling system a damm good flushing through again before refitting.
Whilst everything was out I gave the fans a overhaul. As they were abit crappy I gave them a wire brush all over and then gave them a good coat of paint.
Now all the coolant is back in and the system is all bleed. We are back in action.
The fans are clicking on and off as they should.
I will now change the oil and filter again just to make sure everythings perfect. You never know how hot she actually got and could have turned the oil in to nats piss. To be honest the comma oil that's in her is abit shit. So I've brought some quality castrol and will add some slick 50 for good measure.
I swear by me slick 50 in all my cars.
Time will tell if this has sorted it. The weather is good for Saturday so we will have to wait and see.

Re: Cerberus here we go.

Just a quick update.
I drove Cerberus around for 3 hours this afternoon. Going around the towns, alittle bit of motorway, traffic and to finish off some tunnel blasting again.
My temperature gauge now sits exactly half way and it never moved.
Perfect. Looks like updating my rad has paid off.
I'm having a neighbour who's a pro photographer do a photo shoot of her on Tuesday. Weather permitting of course.
So I will post the photos here.

Re: Cerberus here we go.

Time for a update.
Well I have now covered nearly 200 miles with Cerberus and I am finally getting back from my trips without having things to fix.
Now that all my hoses are fixed and the new rad is fully operational I'm finally getting there with the bugs.
With any kitcar there will always be something to fix or modify.
Whilst giving Cerberus a wash I got to wiping off around the inside the wheel arches and I pulled out my leather covered in black bits.
Where's that come from. Paint flakes Grin surely my nice under wheel arch painting wasn't pealing off.
Upon closer inspection the paint flakes are actually coming from the coil over spring.
The plastic coating is coming off as the spring is starting to corrode.  Sad
I don't want to have to replace these beauty's as my ride height is perfect. So some reconditioning is required.
This seems to be something I've overlooked when I was fitting the air suspension.  Smiley
Time to strip it down to recondition the spring.
Firstly I remove the strut from the car. I then strip down the unit until the spring is free.
The plastic coating is completely flaking off.  Angry
I attack the spring with a scraper and wire brush to remove all the loose coating.
Once all cleaned up I give the spring a good thick coat of black paint.
I then leave overnight to dry.
The next day I reassemble the strut and then fit back on to the car.
Sorted.  Grin that's one down and 3 more to go. Yep I'm going to do the rest.

On Tuesday I did have the photo shoot done but it kept raining. I think I leathered off the car 3 times that evening  Roll Eyes poxy British summer. Angry
It was quite strange driving along a duel carriage way with somebody hanging out of another car holding a massive camera. I got loads of attention. Probably thinking I'm somebody famous and the camera car was the paparazzi.
Amazing experiences driving a lambo.   Cool
As soon as I get the photos they will appear here.  Wink

Well I finally have the photos that were taken by a professional photographer.
