Well I had fun today. I mush have phoned 20 turbo companies to source a replacement turbo.
It's amazing how many company's told me that they won't touch this turbo.  Can't imagine why. It's only a Toyota.
Anyway the best and most sensible option is to send my broken turbo away for reconditioning.
Prices range between £400 - £500.
At least they told me that the turbo shaft was made of ceramic which is why it failed. When they recon my turbo they will fit a steel shaft.
I think the funniest quote I got as from my local Toyota main dealer.
Photo of the new turbo quote below.
Somebody's sniffing glue. LOL

lol.. bargain that!

My Celica GT4 was a ceramic turbo.. I took it to http://www.turboforce.co.uk/ and they inserted a metal one like you said. They were unsure if it would cause turbo lag as they hadn't seen one before (this was 14 years ago..) but the turbo I got back was just as good, if not better. Not sure if you've tried them.

I managed to take some compression tests on Cerberus today.
I don't know what the actual targets are for a MR2 Turbo.
Hopefully you can tell me.
My compression results were.
Cylinder 1= 140psi. 2= 145psi 3= 140psi 4= 145psi.
Are these tests to spec?
My compression tester is very old. I've had it since the late 70s but it does still work well.
