rain gutter
« on: November 24, 2015, 04:23:24 PM »
Hi Guys wondering if anyone has came across the problem we have or can tell me where we went wrong (I will try and post a pic ) . we welded the plate under
the rear hinges to the bottom of the 25mm box , the rear quarters sit on the top of the 25mm box , so we have created an area that will allow water to pool under the hinges before it gets to a height where it can run down the sides .To save starting again we have decided to weld 10mm pipe in flush and drain it out the rear of the car with some hose, not sure if this makes sens but any comments welcome.
cheers colin

Hi Colin,

That top gutter looks far too deep. My hinges hung over the edge by  approx 1", this obviously brought the gutter higher, with the side gutters longer to reach the corners.
The end result ensured there was no "pocket" for water to collect in.

Hope this makes sense

Cheers

Thanks Alex , I`am kicking myself that we are this far and have only just noticed, however the mod seems to be working and the rear hatch shuts and seals fine
so just going to live with it  .
cheers Colin

What you have done looks great. If it drains the water away then job done. Don't forget the real 360 drains the water away at the rear by the inside engine bay panels. So there is no channel around the engine bay cover. What you have done is what a few of us have done
Keep the diary coming  ;)

Hi Colin from what I remember the DVDs tells every one to weld the plate under the box section to give the hinges some clearance, so no matter how deep the gutter is everyone will hav a water pocket at the side ,so like mick said what you hav done to remedy it works (job done) and any body who forgot to do this can copy what you hav done ,
Jd.

Ps was great to catch up the other weekend  you are making a cracking job on your car put some more pics up ,jd
