Pug engines: 190 or 207 hp? Which is best?
« on: June 03, 2016, 08:34:50 AM »
Hi guys im checking out donor cars..from the year 2000 and up there is a new type of engine... Which one is best in terms of sound? I have also red somewhere that there is some stuff in the way for the bonnet on the new type of engine...

Kast question... When i buy a pug with the new type of engine ... Will the gear box fit on the old type of Engine? I assume i can do an easy engine swap from the new to the ol model?

I ask this because I allready bought the old type of engine with 90.000 km on it...
 Thats why i ask..

Morning Dman
I have the newer D9 210bhp engine in my car and it all fits under the bonnet
Some builders have had to remove the Cam belt cover to close the bonnet but I haven't
It all depends on where you fit the wing supports. If you fit them high enough then you shouldn't have a problem.
I thought the gearboxes were the same but don't know enough to give you a definitive answer to that

All water hoses are in the same place, but I think some of the electrical connections may be different

Cheers

Hey dman ,like Alex said I'm not sure if the wireing will be the same as the brain will be different also to be safe I would make sure you get the engine loom and brain that way it will be ok ,to be honest most people keep the wireing and brain with the engine as it's easier to take the engine out with the loom attached ,jd

Hi don't  know  if you know there was a renault  safrane baccara  back in 94/96  which used a 3.0 twin turbo  v6  259 bhp  which can easily go to 350 bhp it is a prv engine peugeot, renault, volvo. A direct predecessor of your engine bolt pattern not sure of though but as it's the same  family of engine. They put it in that because they had a lot left over from the A601 alpine.Being that age would be easy  to wire in. Engine mounts should match up but it's pretty rare to find one they were pretty cheap for a whole car 10 years ago.
