New build from scratch. What's involved
« on: October 09, 2016, 02:25:11 PM »
A discussion that came up at work last night.
Building a kit car like replica from total scratch and what's involved.
Ok so if I had a brain wave and decided to build a new car totally from my own design.
Yes using a donor vehicle from another car. Like the MR2 etc for the running gear and chassis.
Then designing the body, interior to your own design. Like a concept car.
It could be as wild and as far out as you liked.
What's actually involved with going from the designs on paper to actually making it?
I've read that there's a lot of expanding foam involved to produce a mold.
This is only discussion mind you. If I was to actually do it I would be divorced overnight LOL.  :-*

Madmechanics have a few scratch builders, but from info and failures on scratch builds, the glass package including lights is top on the list. Take a look at the VAYDOR. Matt shows you the type of dedication required to produce a kit car.
