Adjusting the shocks.
« on: October 23, 2016, 05:09:05 PM »
Hi all.
The 360 I bought apparently has Gaz shocks which the seller said were adjustable. The ride is so hard I would like to make the ride softer. I have a mechanic that I use and he say's I need to get some special tool so that he can do it.  Does anyone know what it is called and can I buy one online and also in order to soften the ride, does it automatically mean the ride height is raised. I don't really want to raise it any more. I have 20 X 30 X 275 wheels.
Regards.
Brillo.

I had some adjustable shocks on a old sierra cosworth replica I had once.. At the top of the shock under the bonnet was an adjuster, I just used a small adjustable spanner to move them. If it is shocks that are adjustable it just makes the ride harder or softer, it does not adjust the ride height.

Ok that's great news that the height wont be affected.
Hopefully it on a hard setting and I can make it softer. So no special tools needed then?
Thanks for the info.

Just a thought, aren't the top of the shocks hidden under the new wings?

Hi Trevor ,the gas shocks normally hav a nob on the bottom of the shocker to adjust the rebound  you will here it click as you turn it ,but to be honest I think the springs extreme use were quite hard so not sure just how soft you will get it without changing  the springs ,they are normally adjustable platforms too, which means you can adjust the spring height up and down ,adjusting it down ie lowering the car will also soften  the ride providing the shocker has enough travel left , hope this helps jd ,ps the spanner for adjusting the platform is called a c spanner ,

Hi Brillo,
First do you have GAZ shocks or gas, GAZ sock absorbers (down the road to me) were supplied with some of the early extreme kits. They have different types of dampers, some are fully adjustable (hydraulic compression and rebound) others just height adjustable. The good news is that GAZ also make and supply their own springs. Take a look at this vid for info on your GAZ shock innards

Hi Dangerous I remember you from the DNA forum.
When I bought the 360 a few weeks ago it was described as having adjustable GAZ shocks. The ride is very hard and bone shaking so just want to soften it a bit. I'm not technically minded so anything mechanical I have a local mechanic to take a look when things need doing. He has never worked on a kit car before. never heard of Extreme or DNA and I've never owned one before so this is a bit of a learning curve. Hence all the dumb questions. He took a look and told be he couldn't adjust them because he said he needs some special tool to do it and for me to see if I can get one online.
Cheers.
