Dropping the car off.
« on: December 29, 2016, 08:20:28 PM »
Hi everyone.
Just got back from an epic journey, nearly 1000 miles, which including dropping my car off with JD in Durham.
What a lovely helpful couple JD and Di are, they made myself and Partner very welcome and I look forward to watching the progress of my car, after all the other ones are done. It's like an Extreme showroom up there. He's a very busy man but I don't think the cars could be in better hands.
Cheers JD.
Brillo.

I've visited JD and Di a couple of times, dropping bits off for my build, lovely couple! I live 4 hours drive away but couldn't agree more Brillo, I wouldn't want anyone else touching my car! JD is the only guy I would trust with it now because I know he wont let me have it back until its perfect!

I didn't have any heating issues with my car either Mick, the temp got to just under 80 on the gauge then stayed at that the whole journey, even when stuck in endless traffic jams. :)

Hi Mick about my aircon.
I've only had my car just over 14 weeks. I've never had a kit car before but I have admired them since I saw my first Nova in the 70's.
I'm not mechanically minded so I really don't know anything about my car. It was a car that I fell in love with at Stoneleigh when I first saw the yellow demonstrator in I think in 2006.  14 weeks ago I saw one for sale on ebay. I was looking for one for a long time. It was a total gamble buying it. I was so relieved when I eventually got it up to JD's. I really need someone to look over the car and basically assure me I haven't bought a total lemon. Things rattle and until the windows are sorted, the car is permanent damp inside so to be honest, It hasn't been as enjoyable driving It as I thought It would be but hopefully once JD waves his magic hands over it, It will be.
The aircon doesn't work at the moment, I've no idea If It just needs re gassing or whether It isn't even connected but like Simon, I've asked JD to check it out to see If It is. To be honest once the windows open that will help keep it cool in the summer if It's not.
It did get all the way from Devon to Durham so that say's something without any issues and I did pass a lot of broken down vehicles on the way up. :)

Hi Brillo

I should explain a bit better. I asked about whether the AirCon was still fitted as the condenser sits right in front of the coolant radiator.
As your Aircon is still fitted then there is a strong possibility that the Aircon condenser is still fitted
And as you have no high temperatures whilst driving then it sounds like the condenser is not blocking the air being sucked it by the fans

I know what I mean haha
Cheers Matey
Mick

PS Even if you have bought a Lemon, it certainly wont be one when you get it back  ;)
