Gear stick mod to F360
« on: October 03, 2017, 04:15:01 PM »
Am in the process of modifying the 406 Coupe gearstick, so I can then have a custom H gate made from an alloy block.

I've removed the chunky section and knob, leaving me with the short piece of shaft. This is obviously too fat, I'd like to cut and weld on a smaller diameter piece of stainless rod. see pic:

Question for those who have done this mod:

1/ did you remove the stick and ball joint from its socket in the plastic base, prior to welding (I can't imagine you'd leave it on, otherwise it'd melt right?
2/ when you fitted your H gate, did you leave the rubber centralising dust gator in place undertneath?

Thanks in advance,

Brian
