Worrying times for us car modifiers
« on: October 24, 2017, 04:07:25 PM »
Hi Guys.
I think this might concern everybody here so read on. This could be important.
I have just learned from the powers that be that the government is planning to introduce a points system for all modified cars.
To include everything to a magic tree air freshener.  ???
Seriously tho.
I’m not sure of the facts hence why I’m trying to find out.
Has any body else here heard similar rumours?
I have heard that sometime soon you will have do notify the dvla if you have fitted anything that modifies your car.
There will be a points system introduced so let’s say you updated your brakes. That’s 4 points. Then you fitted a spoiler. That 2 more points. Any more than 8 points. You have to do something like get a special test or something similar.
This is really serious for people who like to modify there cars.  :'(
Some classic car owners are worried that they will soon be shelf ornaments as they are no longer allowed on the road.
Does anybody here know more?

If its true, sounds like its aimed at the boy racers.

With that in mind, best to get the vehicle registration amended asap to reflect its a replica, and not still the donor car!

I wish I could.
Unfortunately the actual build date of Cerberus is unknown and I have no receipt meaning it will get the q plate of shame.
So I’m leaving well alone.
I’m putting her away shortly for the winter until the spring.
Then next year who knows.
