zxrjohn14 360 build
« on: July 11, 2018, 05:15:39 PM »
Firstly let me start by saying a massive thank you to Micky London for the build DVD and advice. Also his cracking build diary....mine will not be as good as his.

I purchased the car for 1000 of the queens finest pounds from someone who had left it to rot under a tree.

i started by cleaning it out and seeing what i have and haven't got.
there are a few bits missing:
Boot lid perspex
Passenger side fibreglass A pillar bit
Fibreglass bit to cover the boot latch/box section

The story behind it is the guy i got it from purchased the body kit in 2009 and stored it....badly by the shape of some of the panels.
He got a 406 in 2013 and got Extreme themselves to do the cutting and most of the welding. the car then was stored in a garage til 2016 and then parked under a tree until 3 weeks ago when i purchased it. No work was ever done to the car  :o :o

The interior of the car is beyond saving and it has has the 2.0 petrol engine fitted, so I've purchased a mint 406 with a low milage 3.0 engine to use as a donor, I need a windscreen and trims too so it made sense to get the donor

I've purchased a set of 19" wheels and an original Ferrari 360 exhaust to sling on it.

most of the welding and bashing that needed doing has been done by me and I've dry fitted all of the panels now

If anyone has any parts that they want to sell please let me know, especially if it's lights!

i'll try and take photo's and updatye now and again
 :) :)

i've been busy!
the 2.0 engine is out

The exhaust is fitted

i've moved the car over to give me some room and i've tidied up a little.

forgive my welding skills, or lack of, but part of this project is to learn how to weld well amongst learning other stuff

i'm really enjoying it so far  ;D

a quick update as i've been very busy with work and lazy with this heat we're having   :o

I've cut loads of the back out to get the exhaust in so i've put a subframe in to the back

this will be clad in steel all nice and tight

I've also got the rear rubber holders on for the Mondeo rubbers, and fitted said rubber

i need to get the top bit done near the hinges now and that will be that  ;D

can anyone tell me what side light and indicator to use for the headlights, and where to get them from, please. I'm planning on making my front end in one so would like to get these done and in.
Does anyone have any of the lights for sale?

Foir those who are following this, after a good conversation with Kev from Extreme , i've decide to scrap this car and try and rescue as many of the metal add ons as posssible to put onto the mint car.
i'm sure some have thought this already, but i'm the kind of person that gets very blinkered.
I've already cut the car up and got the rear subframe in, i haven't taken photo's as i#ve done this after work and my phone has been dead.
i'll post some pictures at the weekend.

i thought i'd sling an update up.
i've been hard at it when i can and cut all the unwanted bits off, dry fitted the rear, fitted the exhaust, and bought several parts.
here are a few pictures of where i am so far.

its been a while, but the lack of activity, replies and it feels like i'm wasting my time. (please don't mention facebook....i really have no desire to join that)
i have met some awesome people through this website though.
it may help someone one day so here we go.
I've done a lot of the under the panels bits:
suspension and arms changed (supplied by Kev)
wheel spacers made
cables rerouted
wires extended
sills cut and welded **
panels dry fitted several times
all panels sprayed black inside
rear bulkhead made and bits to stop water ingress
everywhere Shutz'd
all metal add ons fitted
extra metal here and there for a b it more strength/bits to adhere to. (part nicked from dads360's idea)
Ferrari type dials and fascia (thanks Kev :) )

**whatever you think you need to remove....it will be more. the whole lot needs cutting back frrom the end of the fibreglass sill, and then the footwell will need smashing in with a large hammer.

a few pictures.
Apologies for the shite quality, i've broke the glass on the camera

ive bolted rather than welded these bits on incase i need to get the engine out later

hmmmm.....shiny

again....shiny

i love pu adhesive

There you go. I'd love to see a bit more activity on this site.

Hey fella, looking good. Have you got all your bits now?  People do read the posts and I'm sure they would love to see more.  It's also handy as sometimes fellow builders spot things that you might have missed or not thought about.  I see you went for the original rear glass :-)

Have you got a date to finish her for or is it like me.. this decade sometime'ish ?

Please keep posting :-)

Steve
