Re: zxrjohn14 360 build

The other thing i looked at was the door cards.
As to conversations with Kev, This is how its been approached and it looks so much neater

ftp://

if 130mm is taken out of the card and stuck back together, you don't get the nasty gap at the back where the 2 bits meet.

Nice job.

Love the seats, I think if I replaced the red with a dark blue then they will fit just nicely in my car.

Cheers
Tone

Re: zxrjohn14 360 build

Hi All
I hope you've had a lovely christmas.
I've been busy again, I'm having til the 3rd off so am getting as much done as i can.

The roof is covered and all the electrics sorted and fitted for the sun visors etc., also the roof fittings are fixed in

rear panel covered

put a bit of metal in the roof for support

Fitted all the panels ready for bonding

And welded the roof back on for support again

I'm hoping to start bonding the panels on tomorrow, but we'll see how much wine i have tonight!! i've got the gaps 4mm ish all round so will bond panels one by one and hopefully everything will be as it is now.

incase i don't post before, I'd like to wish everyone all the best for the new year.

Re: zxrjohn14 360 build

Very nice work John, keep the pictures and the updates coming, this is shaping up to be the definitive guide to an extreme build. It will also be very useful if you were to sell your car in the future, as it shows the quality of work that you have put into it.

Well done Sir!!!

Re: zxrjohn14 360 build

Thank you gents.
A little caress here and there and things will be perfect.
I've had a bunch of 4mm packers everywhere and it's worked well.
I will start bonding panels one by one to keep them in the same position.

I really am pleased  how it's turning out.

As I've said to someone, it's 'MY' version of a Stradale, I'm not after building a perfect replica, I just want to put strong hints of the Syradale to it.

Re: zxrjohn14 360 build

UPDATE (said in a Dennis Farina fashion)

I've been busy with actual work and not done a massive amount, but have made good progress.

I've fitted a proper metal roof, as, let's face it, the fibreglass idea is shite.
After roaming the scrapyard armed with my fibreglass panel, i found a suitable donor...an 04 BMW 3 series. the scrappy bloke is a mate of a mate so he said "cut what you want off it and it's free to you today", off to the van i pop for my petrol Stihl, stone cutting saw with a 12 inch metal blade in it.

(picture to follow)

I then got the help of a friend today who helped me fit it up, he's shit hot at this sort of thing
we cut the panel out of the BMW top

and also formed some A pillars from the C pillars of the BMW

then we put it all together with packers to hold it all in the exact perfect place, every measurement matches left and right

we then made a paper template gaffa taped to the rear screen with the shapes cut out for the boot (i forgot to take pictures of this bit)
and cut the rear

everything got continually packed in place

and welded

i'm going to form the corners in metal too

screen ready to be back sprayed to cover the messy bit of the dash

ive covered my door panels too

and cut the gear stick down and started reshaping the centre console to take the Peugeot look away a little

slapped a couple of badges on. these were £30 each off ebay and are bilted on like the real thing, and are a good heavy metal

I am really pleased with the flow of the roof line we managed to get.

I am planning to lay a thin matting fibreglass sheet over the whole of the roof in one piece attaching the rear quarters and small A post bits in the hope of having a crack free roof.
