Hi , cdr,

I must post some pics of my spoiler some time , I went for 36v actuators - might sound a bit odd , but it reduces the speed to about 1mm per second of travel - which is all you need with the fairly aggressive leverage angles it operates from.
Making a support panel first , the rear panel is far to flimsy without one.
Cheers , Neil

OMG an update.... lol

Well another thing is ticked off..

Got my actuator all fitted and working. It's running off a programmed arduino but the power unit is only 0.5 amp so its running  alittle slow in the video, it will be a bit quicker when on the car battery. :-)

Attached below is the little Arduino..

Grrr, damn, wish I was coming now!!

Its looking good just from the photos/videos, looking forward to seeing it in person.

Any chance you could take pics of the other door before bonding (unless that is bonded by then too!) so I can see how you did the lip around the outside for bonding. Did you/Jon thin yours out to allow the door to be bonded on or did you cut the lip off and rebond it inside the door?

This the lip round the front wheel arch ? if so it was trimmed off and moved back as in the build DVD. Jon's thinned the door down LOTS.. but has reinforced it with some small box tube bent to the shape of the door I believe. I don't really know much more than that to be honest as I haven't been about for this bit. defo worth talking to Jon about all this Andy.. O.. and Happy Birthday for tomorrow.. lol

We cut the lip off the door frame ,much as ashley suggests, then bonded this back into the frame as a landing/bonding point for the  outer  skin .The  build up and bonding  of the doors is  quite involved as there are a lot of factors to consider with line ups /building door handle pre loads, window channel alignment /bonding
and setting up window regulators within the inner frame to allow correct positioning of the glass within the door both vertically, horizontally and also centrally to close up to the top underframe. The set up on the glass is difficult because the original doors are aluminium ,consisting of a relatively thin inner and outer skin with built in glass channels whereas the copy doors have a much thicker inner and outer skin/frame due to their fibreglass construction  and  two steel  glass runners that have to be bonded in to position.Due to forementioned reasons ,the copy doors end up "thicker" from the outside of the outer skin  to the  outside of
the inner doorskin. All this means really is that in reality the outer doorskin lines up as per original murcielago
but the door frame sits in to the  "A" post , "B" post  and sill area the extra thickness of the fibreglass and steel glass guides so probably about 8mm  hence the need for the thinner overall door seal.To get the final look right involves thinning the visible (mainly "A" POST ) sections of the  door when bonded  to look similar to
an OEM skinned flange.Hope this helps everyone .If you want to come down ,have a look andrew you`re very welcome, cheers,Paul,Pete and John ....EVMO LIVERPOOL

Yep that makes sense, I hadnt really understood fully what the thinning process was referring to, but that makes sense now cheers. I will definetly be coming down soon, much appreciate the offer.

Right.. going to get moving on this build...

ok here are some pictures of where it's at.

Done so far (quick recap).

All main panels bonded
Doors bonded (Huzzah)
Doors have been beefed up with lots of glass on the inside after bonding as one split on the car near the hinge, might be worth doing this yourselves to the build before paint.
Bumpers and cills have been made removable and have been primed ready for paint
Petrol hose / cap secured to the car
All door seams have been joined and prepared set for the right angle / weather strip

LOT and LOTs of work has already been done and I'm on the final push now to try and get it ready for the summer.. THIS SUMMER.. lol

So.. here is a list which will no doubt grow but it should give me something to aim for...

Doors need finishing.
Door panels ordering from LamboLambo
Door handle prep / MR2 Control panel fitting in handle
Speakers buying
Speakers fitting up
Door card makeup piece to dash needs making
Door cards covering
Seatbelt holder needs tapping
Seatbelts fixing to holder
Seatbelt hold needs fitting to the car
Rear window needs making
Closer rear window panel making / adjusting
Wheel spacers need returning to Imagewheels for adjustment
Wheel false calipers need buying / painting fixing
Alarm wiring finishing
Bat wing / spoiler electrics finishing
front side indicator holes drilling
Front grilles fixtures doing
Air filter fitting to engine
New carpet needs cutting
Gearstick metal surround needs making
New trackrod end extenders need making.. dont trust the extreme ones (been bored to deep)
Stereo needs fitting
Headlight covers still waiting for
Headlight main light surround needs making
Front indicator (right) needs making
Headlights brackets making
Rearview mirror needs finding
sunvisors finding / buying
Front wheel arch plastics waiting for

I'm sure there's lots more and I will add to it as I think of them..

I will hopefully be bringing stuff home to work on and I've now paid all my money to evans motorsports so things should get moving on it now.

It's quite far along on the build, alot of things have been fitted and removed ready for the final fit up. It should all start to come together quite soon I hope :-)

This summer you say!  good luck. ;)
