Ok...Looks like my system will be DeCat

Now how do I get the Damn thing through an MOT?

I don't really fancy having a removable bit of pipe that needs swapping for the CAT every year - I wouldn't even know how I would do that anyway and not start the exhaust blowing  :-\

i think you can get a more free flowing cat which will pass the mot.

you can get decat pipes which have a rubber piece on so that it can be unbolted and slid off.

Why are you removing the cat? I thought extreme left it in place and removed the box after the cat. I know on our K series elise it is actually detremental to the power to remove the cat. Some engines need a particular back pressure as a minimum to run properly.

Other than Ashley's comment about the improvement to the sound without the CAT, the 406 CAT does actually restrict the Gas Flow (that along with restrictors in the manifold/downpipes), so removing it does actually help power......by about 5-6 BHP!  :D

Ahh I see..... (Didnt spot the quote form ash - must remember to read properly before posting!)

I wont be removing mine, a sports cat may be an option though. I just dont want the hassle of having to replace exhaust parts each mot.

I could do without the hassle also.

May have to find a friendly MOT guy who I could give the CAT to when I take in the car so that he can 'Fit' it for the test and then remove it afterwards  ;)

not sure on power but you need as much noise as possible going to the genuine exhaust

extreme, any chance you can do a video of the extreme murci revving so we can hear how well it sounds? You mentioned the genuine 360 exhaust sound A1 on the pug, does that also mean the genuine murci exhaust sounds great on the mr2 or is that not possible?

Most of the sound on the 360 is created in the genuine box, this is not the case in the murci  :'(

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you still please do a video of the extreme murci revving so we can hear how well it sounds? I can see how fantastic the car looks inside and out, but the exhaust note is equally as important.

im not sure on the murci but ash did a great job of re-creating the sound th 360 so im sure it wont dissapoint, as most no i fitted the genuine 360 back box and removed the mid box and it sounded really great, when i went to extreme to look at his place he had an mr2 in for a 355 kit, it had a 360 exhaust fitted as it gave a good sound and it sounded amazing, the mr2 produces a nice growel with a standard system on so i immagine with a few mods it would sound great
