Yes mate, the welding was a bit crappy in the beginning, until my 10 yr old mig gave up the ghost, now doing much better with newer model.

just wanted to say that I am very impressed with the builds that I have seen on here, and most are too daunting for me, I am just building mine to the extreme DVD spec.
I looked at dads360 before I found this forum, and although it is going to be the dogs danglies, I am of the mindset that I got a good deal on the kit, the donor for £250!, and aim to be driving it by this time next year, although I will still be tweaking with the interior for a very long time I think!
I'm not a mechanic by trade (security engineer ), so this is pushing my limited skills to their utmost.
I really appreciate the welcome I have received from you guys and the help, and hope I can be a grizzled veteran helping newbies in the future.
Cheers

Great start Alex ,don't hesitate to ask any questions we will all help where we can ,these cars are a great example ,the main things to get wright are the door ,wing, bonnet gaps a descent paint job and right set of wheel spaces and it can look as gud as a real one ,cheers jd
-
Hi Alex.. congrats on your kit and good luck with the build. Will be following this build with great interest like I have done with JD's and Mickey's. I've just built a DNA 430 and the Extreme are harder to do so hats off to you. I'm in Essex as well if you ever fancy a look at my car... send me a PM if you're up for it sometime...
Cheers

Cannot believe my luck!!!!!!
Working for a customer on Wednesday, went with him to site, site not ready, so I said I will only charge half a day....
On way back I tell him about my 360 project, to which he says "I used to have the real one, think I still have an exhaust for it somewhere"
Needless to say I didn't charge him for the day!

Hey Alex think you need to put the loto on with your luck lol,the genuine exhaust will make a massive difference to the sound I no mine does ,they soon take shape when you get the panels lined up I see you got the challenge front bumper with your kit they look so much better ,cheers jd

Thanks JD,
Did you use the ferrari exhaust mount?
-
Hey Alex ,I used a pair of fiesta gearbox mounts to mount the exhaust they fit perfect ,I just made a plate to come off the extreme metal frame, there is a picture back in my build diary, cheers jd.
-
Well done with the exhaust Matey. Will sound and look the dogs danglies :P

Pics to follow.....

Hi Guys,
Here's the pics re exhaust box, I will get rubber mounts fitted later.

Sorry modball, I am only a month old meself! jD or one of the guys may see this post and help........
Guys, can you answer mod balls question, and also how we become full members?
Cheers

Great progress Alex , looking gud ,if I can give you one tip it would be to rub all the metal frame work down and stick some primer on it as you go ,it's just a pain to do it all later when it's gone rusty ,hope this helps cheers jd .
Ps you mentioned about the front end in my opinion it looks much better to join the wings together with the front panel as it is with the genuine car ,you can still unbolt the front end as one piece and remove it if you need to cheers jd .
-
Thanx for the tip JD, will defo do that now
Hi guys, had a long chat with Kev at extreme today, after ringing to originally order the light kit and glass kit, Kev explained that it is best to get the heavy stuff like suspension, wheel arch mods etc, done first before final bonding which I am happy to agree with, therefore, have now ordered the suzzy mod kit and wheel adapters/ spacers which I hope to pick up from them in the next four weeks....
Am really looking forward to seeing their operation and having an in depth conversation with the lads at extreme.
One of the many points raised, was that it would be best to modify the rear compartment where my back box is located, to allow more airflow around it and separate it from the interior of the car, so will be looking at this tomorrow and the weekend to see if I can get this done.
Mainly looking to cut away the rear boot plates, leaving the area where the mounting points for the exhaust where they are.
Will post some pics once completed
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hi Alex , there's a build somewhere on here of some one who has done the exhaust like yours , he put a separate bulk infront of the exhaust to seal it from the rear seat area , basically it was another plate from the floor up to the top rails can't remember which build unfortunately , it was a while ago hope this mite help cheers jd
-
Hi Alex
Don't know if you have bought some rubber mounts for your exhaust yet, I have bought some MG Midget Gearbox Mounts ( eBay item number 251640792073 )
They offer up to my OEM exhaust perfectly
Mick
-
Thanks guys,
I will be putting a plate between the back box and the rear seat area as described, and mickey, have already got some mounts this morning but if they don't fit, will defo get the mg ones you recommended.
Thanks very much for your input, always open to suggestions.
Made my own exhaust "y" today, went quite well, will post pics later. Just got to make the links to the back box tomorrow, and wait for Santa JD to deliver my toys :)
Cut out the front lights today and quarter vents, loving the black and decker powerfile!!
Alex360
-
Took ages to get the angles right, then had to weld different diameter collars on to the pipe to snugly fit the 360 intakes
-
From above
-
Close up....
Will touch up the paint later, as I still have to put exhaust paste in and get a few more clamps later.
Pretty proud tho as all home made!!! :)
-
To make the "joining sleeves", I had to cut the pipe lengthwise on one side with a grinder, open it up to fit the original into, then spot weld the gap, followed by seam welding it, and then using the Dremel with a grinding disk on the inside to remove the weld "blobs", until smooth bore again.
A lot of work really, but now done ;)
Cheers

Hi guys,
Had a long day on her today, removed the exhaust ( that was hard!), rubbed down rear panel and rear extreme frame, panel wiped it all, red oxides everything, then painted rear framework black, to tidy it up. Spot welded the near side wheel arch together, and refitted exhaust permanently with clamps and paste.
Not sure what has gone wrong, but she won't start, checked the three earths at rear were connected and shock sensor reset, but no firing?
Any ideas?
Cheers
Aalex360
-
You havnt run out of fuel sitting reving it up Alex lol, sounds like you hav checked the obvious if I remember the main earth for the fuel pump is the one near the back seat area, try a test lamp and see if you got a live to the fuel pump hope this helps although it's sounds like you will sus it out ,cheers jd
-
FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!
Looked through all the peugeot of forums, scratched the rest of my hair off, my mate came round and we discussed it, (both of us are sparkles), put a feed onto the pump and tried, no luck. Tried the key chip reset procedure, no luck, refitted the alarm sounder box thingy in o/s/rear, no luck, checked fuses under n/ wing, no luck.
It was a bloody fuse by steering column!!!!
Can you believe it, don't know how I blew it.
Alex360
-
PHEW, rant over now, that's what happens when you over think something I suppose.
Anyhoo, relocated fuel filler pipe to o/s/r wing area behind quarter glass, where I'm going to fit an aero style cap, photos to follow for anyone who wants to know how I did it. Got to extend about six inches to new cap when I get it, but managed to use original pipes etc, so no cost and no waste, loving that!
Next will be to cut that wheel arch out now, and tidy up with tiger seal, and then use xperts idea of councils bin cut offs for arch liners, thanks xpert.
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hey Alex ,pleased you found the problem now you can get cracking on the build lol, more pics please we all luv pics,
The aero style fuel caps do look cool ,I did consider it i think I looked at a Audi TT one they look realy gud , cheers JD
-
Hey Alex, Have a look at 3mm textured black plastic, you can no doubt get it local from a plastic's firm I paid £30 for an 8ft sheet. I'm going to be using this for all the cover up panels under the car. I just rolled it up to fit it in my car. :-) DNA use something similar for all there arch liners.
Steve

Thanks Steve,
That is a much better option as it means less waste etc. will do that.
JD, yes boss been cracking on again today, so build still on schedule. Hoping to have all the bits done before going to get my suspension from extreme, but as advised, I won't be bonding any panels til I have fitted the suspension .
Cheers
Alex

So.... Relocation of fuel filler pipe, firstly removed petrol flap and assembly......
-
Then disconnected hose from rear outside the arch.....
-
Had a thought that I could use the fuel cap release for engine cover, so disconnected and took out the hole into the car for later, and will reposition lever by drivers door onto door latch panel
-
Here is a pic of the monstrosity removed.....
-
A pic of the remaining pipes in wheel arch
-
A bit of chopping out and jiggery-pokery to get it where I want it...
-
Overall view showing position, where I will have to come up with a way of extending this about 6 inches to new filler unit when I get it
-
Pic of the wheel arch, with the reconnected and redirected pipes, with an edge protector, prior to tiger sealing in place ????????
-
Coming along nicely Matey ;)
-
Hey Alex, looks like your making good progress all looks neat and tidy love the fact you bothered to protect the pipes from the sharp edges, its details like this makes for a better build great job JD
-
Moved your build over to the build thread.. thanks for the PM. Enjoying this build and it's good to see some great activity on the forums :-)

Cheers Steve, feel like one of the boys now lol
-
Can anyone make these scuderia fins, they will just bolt on under the bumper! Original ones are fibreglass.
-
Ahh well, decided that I wasn't happy with the fuel filler, so go to some fuel hose today, and will redo it tomorrow
-
Well..... A good weekend in all, bonded the rear quarters on, fitted the fuel filler cap, re welded the engine cover hinge plates to other side of box section, fitted door catches, and linked to interior handles, fitted door rubbers temporarily, "adjusted" off side bumper bracket (bent it vertical), so now bumper matches up better!
Fitted engine cover, and connected engine cover release to original boot release lever.
Back to work tomorrow for a rest :-)
-
wow, you've had a busy weekend there :-) but... where are the photos! ;-)
WE NEED PROOF
sounds like it's really moving on, great work
-
Yes Steve - i was gonna say exactly the same thing!!! We need the photos Alex!! :)

Will do guys asap

Wow Alex, sounds like you defo had a gud weekend on the car ,like the guys said photos and more photos lol,

Hey Alex looks great mate ,making gud progress can't wait for more pics ,jd

Just been reading this link........
Front wheelarch mods, SCARY!!
is this accurate or someone with a slight ocd complex, your thoughts please guys as I haven't seen this mentioned in the forum.
Please see link below

is this accurate or someone with a slight ocd complex, your thoughts please guys as I haven't seen this mentioned in the forum.
It depends on whether your planning on extending the driveshafts and moving the suspension out as well as back. On the older kits there was no option to move the suspension outwards so it required that modification because the wheels sit closer to the arch. I haven't built a kit with the new suspension but I suspect it doesn't require something as severe.
-
Hi Alex, That amount of modification is not needed. When you come to pick your suspension kit up we'll show you what is needed on a car that has already been modified in our workshop that has 19" wheels on and the new suspension kit you are getting.
Many Thanks

Few pics, this is the repositioned engine cover hinge brackets, wasn't happy with the large gap before.........
-
This is the shortened interior door release bar, works beautifully. Am planning to have dummy door handles, and use the key hole to rotate exterior handle rod down to open from outside...... If u know what I mean?
-
Another day closer to finishing :)
What's the reasoning for having Dummy door handles Matey Mate ?
Mick
-
Well, thinking of having no handles really. In two minds at the mo.
-
Well, I found my ferrari wheel nut set on eBay, got em for £60. Also ordered and got all the badges except the horse for £45, and ferrari flag to inspire me.
Hung that in my garage so plan to get some more done this weekend. Probably going to get the front sills cut to size for the side runners to fit, will post pics once done.
Cheers
Alex360 :)

Great progress Alex ,I still luv looking and buying things for my car it's like birthdays when they arrive lol jd

Thx db5, sort of cooling my heels at mo, as waiting to do suspension etc. also waiting for proper 360 only dvd, which shows how the front lights are done, lost a bit of momentum at mo.
Will be stopping once the cold weather gets here, as got lots to do in the house for the missus :)
Alex360

Hi Alex
Sent you a PM Matey. Hope it helps
Mick
-
Quick update....... Didn't get much done over this weekend, basically cut out front sills, welded, sikaflex sealed and painted.
Photos below
-
Also, had a quick try of my engine cover hinges in "new" location to check clearance, can't really see what problem I am going to hit here. If it isn't going to work, am happy to relocate when I weld the rain gutters in
Engine cover down......
-
Engine cover up at about 70 degrees...........
-
Any comments/observations welcome :)
-
Hey Alex looks ok from what I can see as long as it lines up with the rear quarters at the bottom edge and it doesn't catch with the glass in you can make the rest perfect with the firbre glass past. Ie p40,
Ps spoke to Kev the other day think all your bits will be with him soon, so as I need a meeting with him I will arrange to pop down the same day cheers jd

-
Well, i had a happy saturday on her this weekend, got the side sills bonded on, and started playing with fibrofill and p38, to feather in the doors to the bodywork, first time for everything!!
I have decided not to have door handles now, as prefer the de-locked look, and will wait until i have picked up my glass kit before finally bonding the roof panel on, this is because, for the sake of moving the roof panel back 5mm, it will line up perfectly with my engine cover glass, removing the need to extend the edge of the roof panel, which would not be very strong.
I can't forsee a problem with a 5mm move, any one disagree? Please let me know, am always open to suggestions
Cheers

If you don't post pics we wont believe you have done the work ;D

-
I still see no pics.. ;-)
Here we go then, started filling doors to line up with rear quarter panel :)

Nearside

Start of rear bulkhead

Bulkhead part two

Then the rain gutter corners, with my little nephew cleaning up the welds....... Cheap labour lol
-
Looking good Matey :D
-
Hey Alex great to see you cracking on even with the cold weather ,looking gud mate ,also fantastic Christmas presents for you.
-
Well, I got one wishbone out yesterday, finally found my ball joint splitter, not used for about ten years!!
No photos yet, as got to cut and extend driveshafts, rub down and paint hub etc.
Having another go at it next weekend. Photos of something worth seeing to follow lol
-
Well done mate keep up the gud work and get some pics up soon ,jd

Hi Alex well done mate your making some great progress pal and looking good,

Ps thanks again for your time and advise the other day
Just waiting on spacers from extreme now, as wrong ones came originally, gutted.
-
Been reasonably busy on car today, got the near side windscreen metal plate in and painted, then dry fitted the front again and started bonding the small link panel on between the front wings with MiniAL :)
Put a bent piece of box section across to strengthen it, and to give me somewhere to weld a plate onto to slide tightly under the front bumper, to stop top front panel flapping in the wind.
-
MiniAL, starting upon bonding of box section to joining panel
-
A few more shots from different angles
-
Then once it went off, removed whole front end, turned upside down and chucked some more fibrefill at it lol
-
So, as you can see, I can weld a plate to the underside of the box section, which can be "adjusted", to slide tightly under the bumper joining it hopefully making a non flappy result :)
-
Great job on the front panel alex simular to what I did only I used flat 2mm plate with brackets on that and a pair of brackets on the car to bolt it down nice and tight , so the spacers were wrong well at least you can get the new ones to match your new wheels can't wait to see it sat on proper set of wheels ,cheers jd
-
Well, MiniAL and I got the battery tray fitted yesterday, found that we had to trim up tight to to bumper mount and left a touch to allow removal and fitting of the battery.
Removed horn, took the first bracket off, and remounted it above the battery out of the way.
The plastic thingy on inside of the wing got in the way a bit, but managed to leave it in situ.
Negative battery lead, no problem.
Positive lead, unbolted short lead from fuse box, where it is joined to main terminal, re routed main lead with battery terminal, down and through convenient large cut out behind battery, and plan to extend smaller cable and route through 32mm? Existing rubber grommet.
Happy with how straightforward it was????
Cheers
Alex360

Looking gud alex another step closer ( still not sure about the pink paint lol????) any closer to finding any wheels yet ,cheers jd

One more job off the list ;)

Hi JD,
That is Ferrari pink, I will have you know.
Found the wheels I want, will have too spray them silver tho. Am waiting for spacers to come back, so I can check they are 108 PCD against my ferrari wheels, before I order the new wheels though.
Been out in the garage today, practising on MiniALs moped faring repairs, before doing my 360, just 3 words............TOO DAMN COLD!!!!!
-
Looking Good Alex
glad to hear u have found a set of wheels ur happy with as ur making great progress, hopefully the temp will pick up soon but even still its coming along nicely
-
Well, a quick update, went out to her on Friday, and re- did the off side drive shaft, as I didn't weld it straight enough the first time :(
Never mind, only took about an hour in total, and gave me a chance to sort out the spring clip at the top of the gaz strut, that holds the shock in at the same time.
MiniAL and I had a serious discussion and she is now called "Elouise"........................make of that what you will lol
AL360
-
Went out yesterday and finally got the b posts welded up with plates, and the ends of the door where the lock panel is. At least the welding kept me warm.
-
Oh, and Kevin from extreme texted me to say my spacers and stradale wing panel, and headlight bubbles should be with me next week......
Excellent!!!
-
Poxy weather is depressing. Still, at least you are getting jobs done ;)
When you say the Stradale Wing, do you mean the bit on the engine cover, where the third light goes.
Mick
-
Yes mate... thats the one
-
Nice to see you managed to get some thing done on her, gud news on your spacers too looking forward to seeing her sat with her wheels on ,cheers jd ps I will post them bits tomoro cheers jd

-
Hooray, my spacers fit!!!!, thanks extreme!
Had to cut and hammer the #**# out of my arches though, gonna order my 19" ch-r stradale wheels soon, to check they fit before I weld up the mess that used to be my wheel arches lol
4 Modena 18" starfish wheels going up for sale soon...... Pm if interested
-
Looking good :P
-
are you selling the wheels with spacers?
-
Hi GTO,
I wasn't planning to, have only just got them, but if you have some from your car, would be happy to swap as I haven't ordered my replacement wheels, and can get them in most pcd sizes.
If you haven't got spacers to swap, then I wouldnt really want to sell them, as it is around four weeks lead time to get them from extreme.
The starfish wheels are 8.5j front and 10j rear and original Ferrari, with tyres on the front wheels only. The rear wheels are still in the bbs boxes they came in!
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hi I am looking for a set of spacers I had a set of these starfish wheels with brand new tyres come with my car when I bought it, I see you got yours from extreme I have looked on their site but can't seem to find a price how long did it take for you to get them? And how much were they? Also do they come with all the bolts, studs etc?
-
Hi Jamie,
They came with bolts for fitting them to the Peugeot, but I had to source my own Ferrari bolts for the wheels, they were either 350 or 550 I can't remember.
Cheers alex360

-
Hi GTO,
They will be selling for £800 including front tyres. I am based in Essex.

So, I banged the front together today, and am looking for comments on the below, I guess I need to extend the top of each wing into windscreen area, so do I need to make the windscreen pillar 6" fibreglass panels wider too?
-
Hey JD,
She is starting to look as good as yours lol
-
construction of new window frames 1.0
-
Hey Alex ,she is starting to look like a car now , as regards the windsreen pilar and wings it will depend on what you want it to look like and whether you use the pug windsreen rubber and what it fits like at the bottom of the screen area ,I used rover trims down the side of my pillars and modified the pillars to suit them and I did extend the wings so they lined up with the pilar ,it's easy done especially at this stage , hope this helps , I see trabicar welded a piece of shaped steel in his which look gud, only down Side to this is it makes the pilar look even wider once painted, cheers jd
-
Just been playing with the front panels today, and cutting out more of the arches. Will have to change front tyres to a 30 or 35 profile to help clearance
-
She looks the biz with the wheels on 8)
Nice one Matey
Mick
-
Like mickey said it dosent half make a difference once you fit the wheels, looks great, are you keeping the star fish ones now or still going for the challenge ones ,jd

Hi JD, decided to stick with the starfish for now, get the stradale sills and boot lid done, and change the wheels later, when I get some more cash!!
The only problem with the replica stradale wheels is that the rear are the same as the front, and I have got quite attached to the 10J wide rear ones lol
Al
-
Also, if you look at the pic above, you can see that I have extended the top of the wing on the a pillar, much happier now ;D
-
So, it's been a gorgeous day here, and I got some more done on her.
Drilled bolt holes at the bottom of the wing panels to line them up better with the sills, prepped the a pillar and wing joiners for bonding and stuck em on.
Then prepped bottom of passenger door and fibrofilled it up to get level with the sill on near side.
-
Passenger door
-
Great job Alex ,defo think its the right way to go extending the wing corners ,keep up the good work she will be ready for paint in no time ,jd
-
When she's ready for paint, I will let you stay at my B and B (spare bedroom), for a nice holiday mate......... Bring your paint mask tho lol
-
Took her out into the sunshine yesterday, and turned her round in the garage
-
Then cut out rear lights and fitted/wired them up
-
Wow Alex she is really taking shape now another step closer,
Looking forward to casa dell alex for b&b lol ,jd
-
to echo JD's comments, well done Alex - she is looking great. Wheels look really nice and centred in the arches and she has a very aggressive stance. I am also very jealous of your double garage! Lol
-
Looking really nice Matey.
It is funny how just fitting the lights transforms the look.
Get the scoops cut out on the front bumper and see how that changes the look :P
Mick
-
Well, another beautiful day in the south today, so made a start on the headlights, popped out and got rosso corsa scuderia paint cans mixed up for me at local suppliers, rubbed down near side housing and had a go.
What do you guys think of my first painting effort EVER?
Cheers
Al360
-
Hey alex looks like you made a great job ,well done jd

Paint looks nice and shiney :P
What lights are you going to use for the indicators and side lights ?
Mick
-
Range Rover side indicators and a little led unit from China 99p, looks ok, will chuck a pic on later matey :)
-
Anyway, adjusted the sides of my engine cover today, should be gone off for the morning ready to shape and fill 8)
-
That really looks the biz :P

Thanks Mickey for popping over and having a chat, will definitely be cutting across the engine cover now, to straighten it up.
Hopefully catch you tomorrow at lunchtime :)

I still see no pics.. ;-)
Hi CDRSkull, was it you that had the 3d printer?
Could you pm me how much you could do the challenge stradale script for, on the rear light panel please?
Would probably want four of them, 2 for me and possibly two for Mickey, maybe JD too?
Cheers
Al360

Mick

Looking gud buddy ,starting to take shape now is that all the panels bonded on now alex just the prep for paint ? ,jd
-
Hi Alex360,
Yep I've got a 3D printer but also a little CNC so I would prob do it out of a bit of plastic on that. You get a much better finish. Have you got some examples on what you want it to look like?
thanks

Everything but the roof skin, need to weld some plates in at the rear to support the edge nearest the engine cover, and to give me something for the filler to go onto

That would be fine matey. Can you pm me the price for 2 please?

I wouldn't charge you, that would be silly.. I would need to buy a 0.5mm end mill as the smallest I have is 1.5mm. When I try and cut it in the software you lose all the detail. So I've tried it with a 0.5 and it seems ok (attached). I'm unsure however if my cnc would be that accurate + the new endmill would come from HongKong so would take a few weeks to get here as it's the cheapest.. but I can't promise what the result would be.
The line in the middle is 1mm in depth and the material is 3mm.

no worries, I've ordered some 0.5mm end mills (pk5 for £8). When they arrive I've cut some out. :-)

Well.....Saturday I tidied up my garage and put some dust protection in place for all the sanding and filling I am going to do
-
Today I started on the filler pieces of metalwork on the engine cover bay, to give me something to fill against, and for more support for the rear roof line
-
Few more
-
Started painting the rear boxwork up, to stop the rust
-
Looking gud alex not long before you hav the roof on ,the I icing on the cake so to say lol ,jd.

All this work is gonna be worth it :P
Mick
-
Great job looking great , how's it looking now ? If I can get to somewhere near that standard I'll be very happy :)
-
Still filling up tailgate.........
-
Good news........ Found the perfect lid for headlight housing
-
Better news, just got 3 more to eat lol......
-
From brain wave to brain freeze ;)
Haha
Mick
-
Hi guys,
Got the day off today, and have an audacious plan (evil laugh)
As you know, my tailgate has been a bit of a sod, I have built up the main panel by 15mm!
The plan is to cut along the vent panel bonding line, as well as where it joins main panel, lift it to line up, and re-bond in correct position, other ideas were to just fill it (lot of messing around to get the vent shapes correct again),
Or to get a plastic panel as a filler and bond it on (good idea Chris :)
This would involve getting a third party involved, and who knows how long that will take??
Will post progress pics today
Wish me luck
Al
-
Good look mate ,I'm sure you will get it sorted it's all an adventure lol.jd
-
So today I cut along the join line on the tailgate.........
-
Then positioned them in correct locations and dropped a blob of fibrefill in to lock in position, now waiting for it to set before removing tailgate and bonding along the sides :)
Should there be a gap between the side of the engine cover and the rear quarters, or should I build the engine cover out more?
Alex
-
The engine cover gaps are big on a real Ferrari, you should be able to slip a pound coin between the gap as a guide.

Looks like you have managed to overcome the tailgate problem Matey
Thumbs up
Mick
-
Glad you have a plan mate :) anymore great ideas needed just ask ;) lol .
I'll pop over soon if that's ok :)
-
Thanks guys, thank you GTO for the pic, it will be a useful guide going forwards

Cheers mate

Been filling up on the engine bay today..........
-
Laid the engine cover in, to make sure I have the gaps right........
-
Cut up the wife's ariel liquitabs box and will bond these in as inserts when finished.....
-
Then skimmed with fine filler/sealer, and waiting to go off. Will rub it down in morning.....
-
Quick note.......when fitting the drip shelf at the top of engine bay, angle it downwards in line with the engine cover, I didn't and now am going to have to cut my rubbers to ¥#€$ to get them to fit nicely
We live and learn :)
-
Well done mate :) doing a great job !!
How's the tailgate now looking ?? :)
-
Cracking on Matey
Looking like a nice neat job there
Like the Liquitab edges :)
Mick

Well, gave up on getting my fibreglass sills, called my local fabricator boys and picked them up the following afternoon.....
Any tips on the best way to fit this, am planning to weld the bottom onto the original sill to give it some strength, but not sure the best way of ensuring a superb bond to the fibreglass sill :o
-
Cracking job alex,as for bonding them on just make sure you grind up the metal and grind some groves into it ,you could even drill a load of hole in the top lip then use your bonding paste to attach as normal then put a skimming of paste over the outside as well , cheers jd
-

Cheers Mickey, how did u get on over the weekend?

Looking good alex .people think bodywork is easy just a bit of filler and paint lol,the time and effort you put in now will pay off later ,jd
-
Cheers Mickey, how did u get on over the weekend?
Slowly sorting out the fuel filler, got that in but have a small problem with the vent. Can't bend the tubing without it kinking.
So will make a 180 degree turn out of household copper pipe and 90 degree bends, and then connect my rubber tube to that.
Will put up some pics when done
Mick
-
Hi guys,
Engine cover.....again.
Spent another day on it, got it to the best I can, thought I would try the Perspex in.....

Then one of my mates popped over, and said "there is a line showing across it where it kicks up at the rear."
Having friends is SO overrated >:(

Well, a busy day working on all the domestic jobs, but found time to give my bargain bucket wheels a clean.
Guy with a jagdeo (5 x 108 pcd),was selling them on gumtree for £250............RESULT!!!
Cheers

Hi guys,
Engine cover.....again.
Spent another day on it, got it to the best I can, thought I would try the Perspex in.....
We have been made aware that the rear window is abit too big, thats the problem with using a template done by the previous extreme. We've now had this changed. As for yours Alex just trim it down equal on both sides for a better fit. It should still be slightly bigger to help it keep a curve when fitted. I know it sounds crude but we would recommend a belt sander to sand the edges down to the desired size. Then just finished off with some finer grit and wet and dry paper.

Thanks JD, feel I need to etch primer fill every panel as I go. Will this be necessary? As it costs a lot in spray cans. Or will it do you after guide coat/ fine fill and 280 grit sanded?
Cheers
Alex360
-
Crack on Matey, you know it's going to be worth every minute of time spent on her
-
Hey Alex ,no need to etch prime as I will go over all repairs again then I'll prime it ,so just do what you can I'll sort the rest ,cheers buddy ,jd

This is the sort of look I am hoping for......without the rear spoiler though

Yes that looks sweet do you want the rear lights tinting black also ,jd

Hi guys, I did a bit of welding on the near side sill today, and then gouged out the cracked portion of o/s/r wing...
-
Then fibrofilled it roughly level, ready for filling.....
-
Took a photo of rear bumper for JD to check lol....
-
Then roughed up sill and fibre filled ready for filler finish....
-
Also knocked around rear quarter panels and located some crappy edges which I cleaned out and fibre filled
-
This is the sort of look I am hoping for......without the rear spoiler though
Go for it! I've not seen an Extreme 360 sitting really low like that, would love to see someone do it (eg air suspension?), thats one of my aims too
-
Soon be in paint Matey
What was the size you had made for the sills ?
Looking good

So, I did the near side roofline filling today........
-
I also had to re-grind on rear quarter, the top of the window line, didn't go too deep as the quarter glass will come level, and then the trim can bond over the top, if that makes sense lol
Cheers

Hi mate just wondering what you did with the servo pipes on the exhaust pipes (if anything)?

Mat
Hi Matt,
Nothing at the mo, as I plan to get her painted and roadworthy. Then to ATS and have a straight through exhaust fitted, then play around with the vacuum servo units, probably running a pipe to the inlet manifold to create vacuum as it revs up the range.
FerrariJD, has not connected them up, and his exhaust sounds great as it is.
Cheers
Alex360
-
I removed mine and used the bracket they were on to mount it in the car. I then welded the butterfly open :-)
Nice raspy sound ;D
-
Cheers both, looks like its worth going down the oem box route looking at both builds
-
Had about an hour on her today :(
Carried on prepping nsr panel, and whilst measuring up for Mickey, thought I'd try my other wheel on. Really happy with it, won't need fake disks or calipers as the original pug ones sit up tight behind it......result.
However, the Ferrari wheel nuts are too long and "bottom out" before securing the wheel.
I don't want to cut them down, to will probably have to source alternative wheel nuts, any ideas where from guys?
Cheers
Alex360
-
Looking good but is it sticking out past the wing
-
I need gen wheel nuts , buddy, pal, best mate, ;) lol
-

Are they nuts or bolts Matey
Don't know if these are any good
http://www.raceways.co.uk/Wheel_Nuts_and_Accessories.htm (http://www.raceways.co.uk/Wheel_Nuts_and_Accessories.htm)
If they are bolts then a engineers shop should be able to put them in a Lathe and turn them down, without any problems

ok.. I admit it, not a bad looking car ;-) Awesome work fella. Reminds me of my DNA with the rear black light surround panel thingy..
Nearly 8 years ago I took the below picture of mine next to the real thing :-) Happy memorys
-
That was a nice example Steve, have you/JD got a time frame for getting yours on the road yet?
Did my best with the ns sill today. May need some more work tho :-[

Cheers matey,
Any tips for filling these bloomin pin holes, I end up with a four inch area by the time I have rubbed em in!
I think my fine body filler is a bit too thick
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hey buddy ,for pin holes I use gold top stop, its a stopper which is designed for pin holes it's just like filler to rub out but Much finer, if you can't get it give me a shout and I'll post some down cheers jd.
-
Had a good day on her today, found the dry guide coat for £7 from my local paint supplier......love it!

Just letting the fine filler go off and hit it again next week.

Bought 2 of these sets today, cost a tenner, probably going to get local fabricator to make up some ally fake discs.
Thoughts please?......

See if you can get disks in black mate :)
-
I think they will look good. Have you got the yellow ones then :)
-
Yes mate, although I will probably only need 1pair as plan to leave the front brakes as they are and just paint up the original brembos.
At that price though, it's good to have a spare set in case
Cheers

No worries matey, it guarantees no gaps between the bumper and the wing, and also there is less chance of damage by twisting when removing it in one piece as it now beautifully solid :D
I also plan to bond my lights in now, as they wont flap about, and I have utilised the original pug connectors, so easy to unplug when taking front end off.
Cheers
Alex360

Alex360
You know it makes sense ;)
-
Hi Alex thanks for that i must be missing some sort of rear lamp because all we have is the main housing with holes for lamp and a lens but nothing to cover the rear
-
Thanks Alex I see now lol i am missing the rear part where you put the caps on ,not to worry another 2 parts to order
cheers colin
-
Pictures of the front clip....
More bonding to do to strengthen it up.
-
Now, a question for all you builders out there.
I offered my finished headlight units into their respective positions, and am having troubles.....
Drivers side, not too bad,
off side, the front and rear ends of the light sit too low, and it's obviously fouling on both sides.
I am thinking of grinding as much off the underside of the wing as I dare, and hope this will sort it.
Anyone else had problems in this area?
Ideas much appreciated
Cheers
Alex360
-
Well done buddy :) great work , can't help with the lights tho :(
-
Thanks Chris :)
Well, today........
I repositioned the radiator as it was fouling on the underside of the bonnet,
Cut down the sides on the inner wings, so that I can get my hand in to adjust headlights and change bulbs etc,
Cut down ecu box width wise as it was in the way of the headlights,
Fitted my remote door openers and set them up to be opened off the old wing mirror controls internally :)
Cheers
Alex360
-
Nice 1 mate :) do the solenoids all work ok ? Think that's a great idea ;) are you going to put it on a key ??
Ps
Can you sell me a couple of dummy cameras ???
-
All running off wireless key fob :)
Pop over my office sometime Monday and I will sort you a couple out mate
Cheers
Alex360
-
:) that's great well done buddy :)
And yeah ok super ;)
-
Front end looks good Matey
Not too bad removing it as a one piece, will need two people though when painted, just so not to damage it
I will be fixing my lights to a bracket to the car, so when the front end is removed the lights stay on the car
Don't know how yet
Not sure about your light problem as I am not at that stage yet, sorry
Mick
-
Have you made your headlights yet matey?
If so, can you just offer them up to your wings and see if it is just me?
Cheers
Alex360
-
Not made the lights yet, just cut the holes and bonded in the two lamps in the adjuster part.
I'm at work at the mo but on Sunday I will temporary fit the lens to the light panel and have a look at it in the wing for you
Mick
-
Mickey, please read this post carefully, gives you a heads up :)
Ok, so today I fibreglassed the joins on the front clip for extra strength. Pics 1 and 2 (clip is upside down on table)
Then put headlight in place, wrapped in thin plastic sheet and bonded in pic 3
Then bonded some 6mm nuts at other end to use as release clamps pic 4
Mickey,
The headlights now catch on the radiator filler tank bracket pic6 and my ecu pic7
Will look at this tomoz
Cheers
Alex360

Pics 4-7
-
Wow
Well done Alex great work buddy :)
-
Thanks for the heads up. Will try to have a look at mine over the next week
Mick
-
Today, I cut 10mm of the track rod end threads and 10mm off the track rod adaptor.
This has sorted my wheel alignment!
-
As you saw yesterday, I had cut my ecu box right down and also moved it 2" toward rear of car.......
The headlights were still catching, so have now stripped it out of the box and cable tied it up in front of the power steering reservoir, top left of pic, sorted :)
-
The radiator filler tank.....
Moved the entire bracket into engine bay another 25mm, but lights still caught it, so cut out the two upright faces of the box section nearest the light, and now it fits with about 5mm clearance.
THAT wasn't in the DVD lol
Cheers
Alex360

Thanks Peggy,
I guide coated the bonnet today, filled in a few spots, re-guide coated, blocked off and painted with etch primer followed by orange filler primer
She's now as ready as she'll ever be to go to uncle JD for beauty treatment.
I have hired a car transporter for £100 a day self drive, and me and 4u2nv Chris are planning to take her up next Saturday.
I made the mistake of asking the missus, "what am I gonna do now?"
You can guess the rest lol
-
nice work fella :)
You passing Bolton on the way back? lol
-
Sorry Steve, I think that's a leetle bit out of my way. Lol
I was gonna bring your lambo back to mine to give JD some room ;D

Good work there Matey

It was raining when mine went up there too.. it will soon dry off and I bet you had a cloud of dust following you all the way up.
We should have a few cars ready for next year now, looking forward to meeting up and having a few beers at the Extreme OC pitch ;-)

It's normally free to book :-) camping is a must. I will try and get it next to the DNA crowd as I know a few of you already know each other. We might need to get a couple of flags done.. them ones you put under the wheels to stand them up. Can't have the DNA lot showing us up. :-)
-
Lol. We are all one big happy family. Would be great if the 2 stands are next to each other. I'm sure Stuart and Steve can sort it.
-
Pictures of the exhaust for wrapping
-
Pukka ;)
But Alex don't take this the wrong way ,,, but you have got a gen Ferrari rear box, so why don't you look into getting the rear panel drilled and meshed ?? Maybe I'm wrong as never seen in the flesh and I often am BUT I think you will tell it's just a sticker !,
????
-
Is that rear panel wrapped
If it is then it looks great
-
JDs daughter is going to try it on my rear light panel, if it doesn't work out, then drilling will be the way to go, but I will then have to cut off the sheet steel to show the exhaust through it
Cheers
Alex360
-
????????????????????
-
????????????????????
As it stands, there is a sheet of steel between my exhaust and the rear light panel, as per the build dvd.
I quoteth " my wings are like a shiiield of steeeel " lol
-
I would get JD to remove it before painting.. Also if you are going down this route have you seen - http://r.ebay.com/btzm9i . It's a bit bent but nothing JD couldn't fix.. a man with many talents ;-)

Hi Alex ,just had a look at the grill on eBay it's a bit worse than it looks on this link ,the close up shots show the mesh it torn and the end is folded in also ,I'm not saying i couldn't repair it but I would of liked to see it in the flesh before I bought it ,( Germany is a bit far for a ride out lol), but yes I can remove the rear steel panel before I do the body work , cheers jd

On the subject of F360 rear light panels, will a genuine 360 light panel fit on an Extreme 360?
-
Don't see why not mate , there ment to be exact same size !! That's why we make our cars fit the kit , not the kit fit the car !!!!
-
Hi Brian ,yes the rear light panel will fit I hav a genuine ferrari one fitted to mine,jd
-
See !!! ????????????????????

Got my headlight wiring tidied up and now they are ready for next weekend when I pick my car up from JD lol

Hey JD,
Thanks for the comments. I am going to leave the Haagen daas showing as it adds a bit of character lol
Just need to think where I can incorporate a Pepsi can, as that's what powered my build :) :) :)
Cheers
Alex360
-
Lol good work Alex on the Haagen daz.
Maybe it's just me but there is something very satisfying in using everyday objects on these builds. I used a load on mine.
Baked bean cans and soup cans on my dummy engine
Tv and computer aerial wires on the dummy engine
Kitchen cupboard door hinges on my z flaps
Plastic Tupperware box to make a rain cover for the car battery
A round silver cake tin with the bottom cut out to make the Rev counter surround
Roofing flashing tape as a door sound insulator as opposed to dynamat. Much cheaper
PlayStation gaming wheel mannetino switch
Plastic chopping board for my wing mirror back covers
Will u be going to brands hatch in Nov for total kit car live?

Hahaha nice 1 Paul any pics of these mods ?

I especially like the ferrari booster seat. :)

-
Could be handy...... Little Bentley:)
-
been there tried them , don't seem to have much :(
-
Hi Alex ,guys, here's to the start of another great 360, Alex you hav made a great job of getting her to this stage ,these are indeed great cars and it shows with the right attitude these cars can be built and built right ,now it's down to me to make her pretty and shine ,
First job on the list was to remove the rear top half of the steel plate behind the light panel ,so when Alex gets a challenge rear grill you will be able to see the exhaust through it , this was no small task as Alex made a good job of welding it on but the top half is now removed and the lower part rewelded back in place , I will post pics later as my phone was flat last night cheers jd. cheers jd.
-
Thanks JD..
I sourced these beauties today, worked out at £15 each.
(Got 2 for you Mickey)
-
Very nice Alex.. A bargain at that price too. Might see some photos of your car tonight :-) exciting times.
Steve
-
Cheers Steve,

What are they made from
Do you want me to PayPal you the £30 or bring it up when we next meet up

Mick

Hi Mickey,
They are plastic like the car decals you get from motor mania etc.
No rush buddy, if anyone else wants some I will sell my 2 and order some more :)
Cheers
Al
-
Hi Alex ,guys hope this is pics from the other day
-
Nice job buddy :)
-
Hi Alex ,guys here's the start of bodywork ,after assessing the whole car one of the main problem areas was the front of the roof were the new skin meets the pug roof it was allredy cracked, I can't stress enough how important it is to grind the new roof with deep groves to give the new fibre glass something to bond into not just over the top as once rubbed out the new top layer could be quite thin , here's a couple of pics cheers jd .
-
You are quite correct mate, I mainly concentrated on the rear of the roof and top of door joins, didn't take the grooves right to the front...... My bad
-
By the way.....as you will find plenty of foopahs:)
My bad, my bad, my bad, my bad (just to get them out of the way) lol
-
Well coved Alex :)
-
JD,
how easy would it be to inset this mesh into the rear light panel before painting?
-
Now, I like that :P
-
Hi Alex yes I like that too, I think it would be a better job tho to do a template and actually drill and slightly countersink some holes in the light panel, I do hav a spare light panel so I'll hav a go see what you think cheers jd
-
Ok Alex, guys he's a little update iv decided to start at the back and work forward ,the first problem was the yellow primer for some reason it hadn't cured so the beat thing was to remove it as I go ,it wasn't a total waste tho as its acted as a bit of a guide coat ,i stated on the tailgate first that's just about done ,the next job was to start and gap the quarters to the tailgate ,they weren't to far away but I want them better , not sure if I'm sorted with pics so I'll post this first then try some pics cheers jd.
-
Hopefully this will be some pics ,
-
And a couple more
-
This one shows a bit of Perspex I used to act as a temp rear window to make sure nothing catches ,
-
You are the GOD of prepping buddy :)

I agree JD, was just concerned that it may make the panel too flimsy?

Been faffing with my steering wheel today, almost there....
Any advice anyone on the best way of tidying up the top left and right joints?
The inset piece is about 5mm lower than the steering wheel rubber
-
That looks good
What do you mean by tidying up the top left and right joints
I can't see anything wrong Matey Mate
Mick
-
WOW, your wheel looks great. Not sure what you mean by the joints really? The only thing I would suggest if it is what I'm thinking is get some 10mm black high density foam (sticky on the back) and then use this to make up the gap squashing it when tight.
Oh, I saw your car on Friday, how wide does it look! Really like the shape of the 360.. so looking forward to seeing JD paint it. Looks like you've done a really good job getting it ready.
Steve
-
As said all above that looks great Alex ,jd
-
I've already bought my steering wheel, back in March. But looking at yours is making me look at mine with contempt
Right let's log onto eBay again haha
Mick
-
Thanks for the comments guys
Will post some angled photos so you can see wot I mean better.
Need to be able to remove the centre piece once fitted.

Hi Alex, guys here's a few pics of were I'm up to ,iv been concentrating on the lower half of the rear quarter panel and side skirt , the first thing was to put the correct line in were the side skirt meets the quarter panel the line is really only seen at the last 6 inches of the quarter and fades away under the rest ,I'm not far away on this now ,iv also welded in a new end to the new side skirt and under neath where it wasn't welded at all ( oops Alex lol ) it's coming along nicely now ,cheers jd

And now with the repairs done ,

It would defo be one of a kind then mate. With the R8 engine, though you would really have to have the F430 version of the stradale stripe then :)
Mint!

Yep, had a great day with my car (and JD) yesterday lol.
Got home safe and sound, gave JD loads of extra jobs to do, told him to add it onto 4u2nv Chris's price ;)
We looked at the stradale badges I took up and are of the opinion they are too large.
Anyone know the dimensions for these? I think CDRSkull might?
Then I will get them redone for everyone who wants them.
Thanks for putting up with me JD, (although I still think you tried to kill me off with that coffee)
Cheers
Alex360

Hey Alex looks like my gift is not making coffee lol,

Hey Alex ,guys, today's update ,I concentrated on altering the windscreen pillars and wing edges to acomadate the new screen trims, they just need about 1/4 of an inch adding in , then finished up gaping the bonnet and rear engine cover they are ready to prime now, so I can crack on with the side tomoro looking good to hav her in primer filler by tomoro night or sat at the latest , here's a few pics cheers jd

Looking really good. Not long now until she is in a nice shiney coat
What are the trims in the first picture of today's update ???
Cheers
Mick
-
Hi mick ,the trims are off a rover 200 or 400 I think are the same ,you hav to round the corners off on the screen and on the car but they look more Oem when you use them ,jd
Hey Alex I mite hav to get you a nappy for when you see her in red lol. Jd
-

As for the windscreen, do you round the corners off yourself JD or is it a specialist thing
Cheers
Mick
-
Lol Alex ????,
Hi mick ,I get my windscreen guy to do the screens he just uses a normal glass cutter he scribes both sides then pulls and snaps the corners off , jd
-
very nice fella.. it must be the law that you have to build something whilst your car's at JD's! Hopefully lots of room in there for everything.
Hey Steve, I think it's just that we need to keep busy, so the time goes quicker.
Do you know the length of the challenge stradale badge, we talked about it some time ago?
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hi Alex, yep you're right... need to keep busy :-) Your car's going to look amazing.. not as amazing as my lambo.. but not far behind ;-)
I thought you gave me the measurement didn't you? It might of been in my build thread but I've had a quick look but can't see it. You posted some pictures of the badge and then included some sizes.
Really looking forward to seeing some colour on your car :-)
-
Are we the only 1s that talk on here ?? Lol.
Ps great work JD :)
-
Yes, because everyone else are busy on their builds ;)
-
Hahaha or have a life ;)
-
Just got some bills in, it looks like the garage is gonna cost more than the car WTF !!!
Oh well...... I've started so I'll ____________
-
Hey buddy the garage will be worth it in the end, and at least you still hav the old garage if the new one takes a bit longer ,
He's a little update, the drivers side was a bit worse than I thought so it's took a bit longer but I'm nearly there ,new target is to hav her all in primer by Monday night , here's a few pics so far
-
That door gap looks much better now mate :) :) :)
-
Looking good JD :)
And Alex as JD said will be worth it mate :)
-
Hey Alex ,guys ,well after a long day and a late night target achieved ,she is all primed, I will leave this to settle a few days now while I do inside the doors and door checks then I can guide coat her up and block her off ready for final coat of primer then paint ,here's a couple of pics cheers jd

Got to say it was looking fantastic and very WIDE.
Won't be long until it's back in that big garage of yours.. speaking of which, hows that build going?
Steve
-
Hi Steve/guys,

Hey Alex hope your shoulder is not to bad , as for the car I'm just letting the primer cure for another day then I will get some stopper put in tomoro then get the doors off and Finnish the inside before the weekend, then a final coat of primer and paint next week , :) jd

Is it wrong that I'm getting movement ;) and it's not even my car !!! Lol
Great work JD really is mate :) can't wait to come up and see it all done :)
Dunno if I can take you with me, your movement might be extreme when we see her lol
-
Hehehehe It might well be;)
-
Hey guys lol, if your excited now you will be uncontrollable when she's painted Chris lol,
A little update ,Today I striped the drivers door off and got that all prepped ready to prime inside , then I went to start the door check prep but I noticed 2 things, first someone forgot to weld the windscreen pillar up (Alex lol) so I welded this up , the next thing which every one needs to make sure they do is the b post lip ,when these are welded in place they still need trimming back so when the rubber is fitted it doesn't foul on the interior door panel ,the lip only needs to be about 1/2 an inch wide ,here's a couple of pics, will finish up passenger side tomoro and get them primed ,then it will be just about ready for colour ,jd
-
Is it wrong that I'm getting movement ;) and it's not even my car !!! Lol

Hey Colin no probs on poping over I'm sure Alex won't mind ,
-
No probs here Colin.
JD, how bad was the rubbing down in the door shuts? Do you think the door kick plate will cover where the sill join is?
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hey Alex , the door checks were not to bad I still did a bit of filler on them to get them perfect lol,as for the sills iv done the same as mine iv made them look separate as on the Oem ferrari they look great ,the plastic covers will cover most of the step ,here's a pic of mine along wth today's progress , cheers Jd
-
Getting there now , ummm what we'll be done 1st , the car or the new home for the car !! :)
-
Definitely the car, but there should be a rudimentary home for her when she comes back hopefully :)
-
Well, I have been busy the last couple of days, garage is coming together, the bi-fold doors (or what I call Alex's private viewing window), are now in, and bashing the trusses together to start roof this week.
Think I am going to run out of 4x2 tho :(
Cheers
Alex360
-
That will be more like a show room then a garage ;)
Mick
-
Stunning Alex.. Love the side doors :-) what type of cladding are you looking at using for the walls / roof?

Steve

Hi Alex guys , time fora little update ,the doors, engine cover, and rear bumper are all fitted back on the car now , the windscreen is also bonded in , the stripe is on as well as all the grills a new tow eye has been welded on (hopefully you will never need it Alex ) all the badges are on so she is looking well smart , iv got the rear quarter glass to bond in tomoro and paint the roof side trims , then just a few jobs left on the list and she's done ,
As she is so close iv decided not to post pics until she is done ,that way Alex can hav a nice reveal of the car cheers Jd :) :)
-
Looking forward to see the reveal
Can you also post a pic of how you have welded in a new tow eye please
Also what paint did you use for the window borders
Cheers
Mick
-
I can appreciate that JD. Hope you have champagne handy when I get there lol :)
Cheers
Alex360
-
New tow eye bracket , mickey I hope I can explain this good enough for you or anyone else wanting to relocate a new tow eye ,
First I started with a piece of inch box section approx 7 inches long then I welded a course nut in the end of this, the one I used matched the tow hook I had ,you could also chop off the original one and weld this on to a shorter bit of inch box , I positioned the inch box under the new front frame you bolt on off extreme and welded it front and back and underneath then I triangulated it with a bit of flat bar and also added a bit of flat bar from the side to the pug chassis ,hope this helps cheers Jd
-
Sorry mickey the top pic has gone on sideways fo some reason,jd
-
JD you are a star
Pictures saved for reference ;)
Thanks for that
Mick

-
You're as bad as me.. I buy stuff like its going out of fashion! Are you intending keeping your dash black? The only car I've sat in with a cream dash and you struggled seeing out of the window because of the reflection of the dash in the screen..
Oww.. Some material, you buying a sewing machine?
Lol, I'm learning quite a bit with mine.. Should have something to show by the weekend.
-
Nice one Alex
Remember eBay is our friend :)
Mick
-
Bought the cloth twice by bloomin accident lol

Numpty :-) still will always come in handy, you could make a matching suit maybe?
Have any bits arrived yet? What's your plan for the dash?
-
Numpty :-) still will always come in handy, you could make a matching suit maybe?
Have any bits arrived yet? What's your plan for the dash?
A lot of the bits should be here Friday hopefully.
I plan to do exactly as JD did on his dash, spraying the bottom half with Bradleys cream leather paint, and then fitting round vents in top half and spraying with black dash paint.
All work on car is on hold at mo, as I have to get the garage secure, all the sheet materials fitted, to give me more room to work in.
Have ordered the Gliderol roller shutter IN RED :) so that should be fitted in next couple of weeks.
Then my first job will be the door glass to fit, minding the paintwork (Mickey) lol
Cheers
Alex360

I'll post as many pics as possible when I get a nice day to fit my window.
Hopefully the cutting of the original door skin isn't necessary.
Is your impact bar completely removed as that maybe a problem. Again still not sure until I can fit the window, to see how far it can go down
Mick

Thanks for the great comments guys
JD, how did you prep your interior panels before using bradleys paint?
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hey buddy ,I used some panel wipe on the panels ,wipe on and make sure you wipe it off , when painting just use very light coats and build up it took about 7-8 cots on mine , if it tries to react wipe it off straight away with a damp cloth then try again , a lot of interior panel get cleaned with silicone which can cause reactions , jd

Hi guys, on another note, I managed to do a whole TEN minutes in my garage today......
Have sussed a quick and easy solution for my wing mirrors, which I will attempt to explain with pics tomorrow
It's basically the Yamaha mirrors, with the brackets off the other ones I bought, on a 10mm threaded rod, double bolted to the original metalwork, with a neat hole through the fibreglass components, allowing me to simply screw my mirrors onto it from outside!
None of this has been done yet, but will try tomorrow
Cheers
Alex360
-
I'm sure you will succeed Matey
That's why we get these projects ;)
Look forward to seeing the pics
Mick
-
Looking forward to the pics buddy , jd
-
Ditto we need pics :)
-
Ok, so I am going to drill an 8mm hole through the centre rear plate......
-
Then, once the fibreglass parts are bonded, I will buy some 8mm threaded rod, drill through the fibreglass and fit as below,
-
Also, had my vehicle detailing guy in today, to go round her, touching in little bits etc....
-
dam look at all that room you have round the car.. I could only dream of that much space!
Love the mirror idea.. hope it works for you.
Steve
-
Mirrors looking good Alex keep up the good work ????
-
Sounds like you have worked out how to fit your mirrors Matey :)
Have you managed to fit one yet
Mick

Hi guys, sorry I haven't posted any updates lately, but just haven't done anything (literally!!)
Trying to shake this damn cold off and get my mojo back lol
Anyway, a big Thank You to Paul79 who told me about a set of replica stradale mirrors for sale on DNAOC website, and thanks to Matt for selling them to me, I am much happier with this option.
Door Windows:
Right, after f##<^** about with the passenger one for half the day, I have decided that trying to fit a square plug in a round hole, it would help if the windows were the correct shape to start with!!!!
As you all know, the angle on the B pillar is now further in at the top, so it stands to reason that our windows from extreme would be slightly more curved than the original pug one??
I laid my perspex on top of the pug window and lo and behold, the perspex is miles out!
I am going to attempt to induce more curvature, but if this fails will have to get some made locally, I just could not move the bottom of the window guide rail through the outer skin of the door to make it fit, plus the perspex is too thick to run up the front guide rail
JD, believe me, you would not have wanted to try this at home lol
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hey buddy ,good to here your on the mend and fired up again ,sounds like the windows are defo a bit of a job I'm sure between you and mickey you will get them sorted ,plenty pics for when I hav to do tones 360 Windows lol ,cheers jd
-
So, me and my old man, had a go at heating up and curving the windows
-
We also cut 20mm off the back edge of the window up to approx 6" in height, as this was fouling on rear door lock panel. We then double bent the scissor arms and removed the lock to save damaging the window, will refit lock after and test. The following pictures show the gaps around the window....not too bad.
-
That doesn't look bad at all.
Have you got it working properly now
Mick
-
Well done buddy :) getting there glad your on your feet again :)
-
Nice job fella.... Is that a 'mini' fist pump I see in the bottom photo :-)
-
Looking good buddy, great job on the window ,jd
-

Lol no, that's my old man holding the door shut as we removed the lock mechanism to make sure we didn't scratch the window.

windows looking good Alex , one job I`am not looking forward to.
cheers colin
-
Hey Alex - read over your build diary this evening, impressive stuff!
Hopefully the new CS mirrors will bolt straight on - looks like the three mounting holes should be in the right place? They were designed to fit straight on to a real 360 so would make sense for the fitment to be identical? Anyway best of luck with it, looks like you'll have it on the road in no time :D
All the best
Matt
-
Thanks guys :)
-
I must of missed where you said you had new mirrors
Nice one Matey
They will look the nuts on your newly painted beauty
Mick
-
Thanks Mickey,
Well, I glued my door trims on today.....
-
Fitted the extreme bulkhead.......
-
Got the passenger door window working, just need to trim along the top of the window and bevel the edge to allow it to slot under the top trim, as per marked line in photo........
-
If anyone says I fitted the bulkhead in the wrong way, I'm gonna kick their arses!!! Lol
Cheers
Alex360
-
Alex that bulkhead is ..........
Haha
Have you got a photo of your door runners. How far did you have to push them back

Hi Mickey,
I will post some when I do the drivers door.
Once the window has had the extra curve put on it, I can get away with the upright rail tight into the corner. Had to remove front runner (as per DVD) but also removed a small rubber block at the top that the window was fouling on.
Also angled/cut back the front bottom corner of the perspex, over 3", back by 10mm to stop window fouling on bottom front hinge cover inside the door.
Got to put a touch more curve on the window as it comes away from the car about 3mm still at the top. :(
-
Well done mate great work :)
You at home tomorrow !??
-

cheers Colin
-
That is pretty much it Colin, i will get some ply to fit around the bottom of it down to the floor, and make up the quarterlight modules, then glue my faux leather all over it, then spray it up with Ferrari colour matched leather paint.
Havent forgotten about the challenge badges, just every time i go out there i get involved in doing something on the motor and forget!!
Sorry mate, will make the effort this weekend
Cheers

YES!! Passenger door window done.
YES!!!, steering wheel fits with the pug 106/206/306 boss kit.
-
My new stradale wing mirrors bases, are smaller than required, so, as per markings on extreme wing mirror base above, I am going to cut and bond the right hand part to the car (once carbon fibred), and butt up my stradale wing mirror to it.
Does anyone know what controls the auto up/down on door windows, fuse location etc?
Cheers
Alex360

Well done buddy great stuff , well done on the window , but I wanna know how's the new lazy boy chairs in man cave !!!
-
YES!! Passenger door window done.
YES!!!, steering wheel fits with the pug 106/206/306 boss kit.
Excellent work Matey Mate
Just one little pointer about your mirror bases
If you cut that much off will it not expose too much of the rubber behind them
Still not looked at my windows again :-[
Do you have a link or part number for the Boss kit you used ?
Cheers
Mick

Then the stradale wing mirror, buts up to that bit, covering the remainder of the rubber.
This is the boss kit I got, I think mate
-
I didn't read your post correctly. I see what you mean now
I went and collected my mirrors back from the Hydro-Dippers yesterday.
They had them for 4 weeks and all they have done is prep and primed.
Oh well didn't pay them and bought them home
Will order the boss
Thanks
Mick
-
Found out why driver side window won't fit properly, the fibreglass door skin overhangs too much by approximately 5mm, forcing the window in too far.
Bit of bodywork methinks :)
Cheers alex360
-
The door rubber will cover what you sand off
Won't be long until you fit that nice interior Matey
Mick
-
Well done buddy ,the steering wheel looks class , like mick said the door should be a doddle and you hav got about 1/2 an inch where the rubber fits, but I'm sure you will be carefull with the new paint ,jd

Chin up Alex,
Dad's are often helpful but sometimes costly.
Keep up the great work.
Tone

Oh no, can it not be repaired with some epoxy resin and then gently rubbed down.
Is it in a place that would be obvious to the eye.
Mick
-
Hi buddy ,if it's at the top will you be able to trim the same amount off all the way along the top folowing the original line that way there will be no change other than the window will just go up 5mm higher ,hope that makes sense buddy ,jd
-

Indeed, I remember when I was younger and living at home my old man snapping off a stetch bolt in the head of by beloved MG Maestro, I went mental, he wasn't expecting that.
-
Hi JD, Guys
That is exactly what I have done. I opened the door, put the window up fully, tripped the door catch, so the auto closer moved the window up more,.
Then gently pushed the door to. Then marked a cut line and managed to lose the DIRTY GREAT CHIP
lol
Cheers
Alex360

Mick
-
Hey buddy ,nice to speak to you again yesterday, great to know your cracking on with the car ( and it will be ready for stoneliegh ) lol as regards setting the Windows on mine
Step 1 put window up to about 1/4 of an inch off the top
2,open door and disconnect the battery leave for 5 mins
3,reconnect battery and close door ,the window should automatically go up, open door the window should drop close door it should go back up ,if it reaches the top and automatically drops again start with the window a bit more that quarter of an inch down and repeat steps ,
Hope this works for you ,jd
-
That's what I was about to say ;) lol

That's a question for JD, but I believe it is the standard paint windscreen fitters prep the edges of windows with before bonding
Cheers
Alex360
-
Also think thats a great photo Alex. :-) upgraded to the front page.
p.s I've removed the bucket ..
-

Looking really good Alex keep up the good work you nearly there ????
-
Skived off work today. Got door cards almost done, ran out of leather paint!!
-
Also, I won my number plate!!
F36OAM for £130!!! Dvla timed auction.
Is it worth me trying to get plate registered before Stoneleigh? Thinking it might take too long.
Cheers
Alex360
-
Awesome plate buddy ???? , mine only took 2 weeks to swop and get log book back but I guess bit depends. How busy they are . Jd
-
Door cards are looking good Matey :)
Excellent number plate, well done on getting that
Mick
-
Not sure if it's still the same, but you should be able to go into a main DVLA office and get them to swap your reg there and then. I've not done mine yet but will do it when its on the road.
-
Hi buddy further to our phone conversation page 30 and 31 for seat brackets hope they help ,jd
-
Great work Alex , and yeah you can just drive to Chelmsford and change it there and then :)
-
Looking good Alex.
congrats on the plate.
Tone

Thanks for the advice and comments guys, did some on her yesterday, got the roof lining in. Started off trying to fit the fibreglass extreme one, but just wasn't happy with the GINORMOUS gap at the front, and the pressure needed to get the sides in, so decided to cut my pug one to shape, this had the added benefit of the extra bit at the front, hiding the cables to my rear view mirror.
Ok, so it is grey, but I can always remove it and cover it later. (When I get my 10 cans of bradleys :))
-
My old man was helping me, and was desperate to have a play with the carbon fibre wrap, so I let him do the grab handle lol
-
Refitted the drivers inside door handle, and made a contraption of the link bars, so that when my electric motor opens the door, it does not have to push against the spring in the handle also.
If you look closely, you can see that the link cable from the handle is hooped round the link cable from the motor to the lock, allowing the motor to slide its link through.
-
Stared on the centre console, cut out the plate where the handbrake sits (not shown in this pic), and moved it over. Hard Work!!
Going to get everything roughly right, then tack weld handbrake into position, paint up centre console etc.
Anyone know what the big unit is, that is in the way by the handbrake? Have unplugged it for the moment.
-
nice work fella.. bet if feels good to get a step closer :-) How did you manage to get the headlining in, didnt think it would fit through the door?
Dam, what I wouldn't give for a bit of room round mine!
-
The pug one is very flexible and fitted through the door fine, the extreme one had to go in through the boot, so i had to remove bulkhead anyway.
-
Wow Matey you are steaming along :)
Well done on the headlining. Looks very neat and tidy
Are you going to retrim it or leave it
I am looking at a material called Alcantara to do mine
Are you going to use your original handbrake
She is coming along very nicely
Mick
-
Nice 1 buddy looking great :)
-
Looking great mate I think the unit next to the handbrake is the airbag module that you won't need anyway as you not having airbags anymore but jd might no better.
Lee ????
-
Looking great buddy ,like lee said it could be the air bag module if it's got a yellow wire going to it ,I'll hav a look tomorrow buddy ,jd
-
Centre console base, had to cut a rebate out of the base bracket here, so that it sat in correct position
-
Bought a new welder yesterday to do my seat brackets today, red, of course lol
-
Welded studs in for new handbrake position, used original stud on left, then drilled 6mm holes, pushed bolts up from below, and tacked them in place.
-
This is step one, made a cardboard template of the mounts on my seat, this is uni strut that I bought from my electrical wholesaler, welded in position, test fitting my seat tomorrow!!
Cheers
Alex360
-
Nice work mate it's coming together now ready for the show ????
-
Looking good buddy , think the new welding mask would look awesome with a Ferrari sticker on it , jd
-
My thoughts exactly lol
Cheers
Alex360
-
Great work Matey
Coming along nicely
Mick
-
Well, I test fitted my seat today, very happy, not tons of headroom, but my flat top hairdo just missed the roof lining so that's fine :)
Yesterday, I also decided to remove the gear stick top end, it was tigersealed all the way down, so after grinding, cutting, twisting and swearing at it I finally got it off.
DOWNSIDE...... The gear linkage arm came off underneath......bollox. This now means that I have to remove exhaust, unbolt gearstick housing from below and sort out linkage!!! I didn't plan THAT!
Anyway, good old dad came to the rescue and said why don't we go in through the side of the tunnel housing? Mmmmm............
-
Now, as you know, my build is powered by Pepsi......
I need some ally to replace the cast ally, I know, it's a bit of a bodge, but it will stop too much moisture getting in there and is heat resistant ;)
When I change my exhaust, I will replace it with the one off my spare pug
-
I also sent good ol dad over to my mates as I ran out of Unistrut, now both sides set up for the seats, celotex insulation and carpeting next, just got to tiger seal up my welding efforts etc
Also around the filler plate by the handbrake......
-
All the little hiccups will be forgotten about once you are driving her about ;D
Nearly there now
Mick
-
Well done buddy :)
-
woot looking good fella :-)
-
Cracking job buddy not far away now ,jd
-
Lol buddy I missed the previous page about the gearstick , so after our phone conversation I had a look back good repair ( bodge ) mate lol like you say it will be fine till you swap it over at a later date , jd
-
So, today, I insulated and soundproofed the floor, now........ What have I got laying around?
Celotex and expandy foam lol
-
Also, banged my kick plates together and fitted them :)
-
Love the kick plates
Do you think she will be ready for Stoneleigh Matey
Mick
-
Great work Alex , love the kick plates , and what a great idea with the celotex under the seat area. Brill :)

-
How much did that cost fella.. and which company did you go with in the end, if you dont mind me asking? IT will be time to do mine soon...
BTW, cars looking great ;-) Are you going both days at Stoneleigh?
-
Hi Steve, it was around £388.00 for 10k miles, 30k value, with Adrian Flux.
Including Breakdown, excess protection, windscreen, keys, legal protection, courtesy vehicle etc.
I had to insure it as a Ferrari 360 Replica.
I am planning to do both days, going up early on Sunday morning :)
Cheers
Alex360
-
Think I have sussed the indicator problem, my current bulbs are 5w at the front, pug are standard 21w, so I have ordered the 21w version.
Anyone agree with this as the solution?
Cheers
Alex360
-
If they are flashing fast then yes. You can either add a resistor or a higher wattage bulb. ;-)
-

wHAT RESISTANCE WOULD YOU ADD TO CORRECT A 5W - 21W DIFFERENCE?
I have 1k resistors kicking around.....
Sorry, caps lock on :)
-
Had a little play with the engine bay today........
-
That looks mint with the side panels in buddy , jd

Nice 1 buddy , full steam ahaed :)

Lee

You love a tin can in this build haha ;)
That frame looks like real Aluminium, what paint have you used
Are they OEM side panels Matey
Mick
-
Hi Mickey,
The same paint that I used foor the door cards, the side panels are the fibreglass ones from extreme :)

Mick
-
Nice 1 buddy how's the build looking ? Need a pic fix .
-
Also, banged my kick plates together and fitted them :)
I love how these kick plates have come out. They look like genuine Ferrari, surely not the old 406 ones resprayed?
Tell me about them
-
Hi Brian,
Yep, the old pug ones, I pulled the peugeot strip out of the centre channel, (lightly glued in), rubbed it all down, cut to size, then etch primered it, and painted silver.
Then stuck my Ferrari Decal on, then lacquered over the top.
It was that easy!!
Going to source some new ones after the show, do the same thing, but stick a Challenge Stradale script in there next time :)
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hi guys,
Decided to take the week off work next week, to get all the bits finished on her for the show.
I am really having trouble finding a mobile tuning guy, as they all shy away from the V6 3litre pug engine for some reason.......
Cheers
Alex360

General photos..........

That looks fab buddy , jd

Beautiful Matey Mate
The interior looks just as good as the exterior
Well done with the transformation
Mick
-
So, yesterday, I decided to start her up and run her up to temperature, but she overheated rapidly.
I ordered a new thermostat and fitted this morning, no difference.
I then used my parts car, and swapped the radiator and radiator reservior (the radiator cap wasn't sealing correctly and the D9 cap is different, so was quicker to swap the lot).
No better, I can only assume it's the water pump, so ordered one from car spares in Clacton (around £40...not bad)
Will be fitting this tomorrow, any further ideas anyone??
Cheers
Alex360
-
Could be. I did mine along with the timing belt. Might be worth you doing that if you haven't already done it
-
Hey buddy just make sure she's bleed properly they can be a pain and I assume both fans are working ? Jd
-
Only one, and it starts 10 seconds after I start the motor.........
-
Does the other fan not come on when she gets up to temperature
As JD said it may have to be bled
Set the heater control to hot and have the blower on
If it blows cold then you need to bleed it
-

I bleed it by opening the bleed valve on the top of the rad. But my heater matrix doesn't work and has been bypassed, until I can remove the complete dash and swap it out :(
Cheers
Alex360
-
Not as simple as just the thermostat is it mate ?? You checked that , Right !!! ;)
-
I normally use a 2 litre coke or lemonade bottle to bled a car. Cut the bottom off of it and put the filler end into the expansion tank. Then fill it up with your coolant.
The head of the water will then be a lot higher and helps push the air round and out the system
Hope you sort it and it is something simple to fix Matey
Mick
-
Sounds like air in the system to me mate there a a couple of bleed points one on the rad one on the heater matrix pipes & I'm sure there's one in the thermostat housing make sure you have coolant coming out of all 3 otherwise you will do a head gasket
Thanks
Lee

Hi Lee,
When I put the stat housing back on, there was an Allen bolt that appeared to have no function near the top, so I assume that must be it :)
-
Any luck Matey
Mick
-
Come on Alex... you sorted it yet or set it on fire?
-
Come on Alex... you sorted it yet or set it on fire?
Drove it into a wall at 80mph and claimed on my insurance.................
Currently in traction lol, see you at Stoneleigh
Cheers
Alex360
-
Yes that's the bleed screw Alex did you get it sorted?
-
Anyway, been working on her again today, and have used a low tech solution to my indicators flashing too fast, I tagged a 21w bulb across the indicators, hey presto,it works!!!
-
Yes that's the bleed screw Alex did you get it sorted?
I extended the radiator reservior tank hoses, so I could hold it up about a foot above the engine, also, shortened the filler pipe that I originally extended from original rad reservior position, then jacked one side of car up, opened all bleed valves, removed thermostat completely, and all seems to be working now.........
-
Fingers crossed you have sorted it Matey
Have you darkened your door window ?
Mick
-
Also, replaced rear brake pads and installed support struts at rear scoop to sturdy it up and stop it flapping about. (Not worthy of a pic).
Got the mobile tune up guy coming tomorrow to plug in his diagnostic machine, and check she is running to her best ability, will book her in for cam belt and water pump, when I get back from show.
Cheers
Alex360

Mick
I think, can't remember, that JD got them done for me.

I like it :P
Mick

Ran the car for half an hour today, all seems good, the fan kicked in regularly, there is a bit of smoke where a very small oil leak drips onto inlet manifold, but no biggie.
Plan to take it for a short run tomorrow to fill up with fuel.
Rubbed and repainted the centre console today......
-
Pleased you sorted Alex see you at stoneleigh ????
-
Looking good buddy , pleased you got her sorted enjoy your ride out and the attention you will get ,jd
-
Nice one Matey :)
Mick
-
Today, I did a bit more on the fake engine, chucked some soundproofing underneath, took her out for a 10 mile run with my old man, ran ok, temperature stayed under 100 degrees, tried to locate the fault on my petrol gauge, no luck, checked every fuse in the car, may just order a new sender unit, when I have some money next.
Overall, a nice drive, but will need to get shocks set up properly and tuning done (mobile guy didn't turn up), the only let down, was the exhaust, which I will change later.
See you all at Stoneleigh, Allah be Praised
Alex360
-
Glad it ran ok Matey
I bet you both had grins from ear to ear
How many looks did you get
Mick
-
Nice 1 mate , great you had it out, shame about mobile guy:(
I have a old fuel tank from pug here, with sender in it , if you wanna grab it ??? .
-
How you getting on mate ??
-
Great Alex can't wait for stoneleigh ????
-
How you getting on mate ??
Haven't had time to look at her since the weekend, will give her a clean and check fluid levels on Saturday, but that's about it now.
See you all there!
Cheers
Alex360
-
I just remembered, there was a second pipe from the tank, which I blocked up with tigerseal....... So that'll be the breather pipe then, another job to do when I get her home ;)
-
Have you tried filling her up with fuel Alex since you have blocked that breather ?
-
Have you tried filling her up with fuel Alex since you have blocked that breather ?
Oh yes..... Very embarrassing at the petrol station, had to trickle it in lol
-
Haha did you block it up on purpose :o
-
Haha did you block it up on purpose :o
I did, as I didn't know what it was for, and didn't want fuel pumping out of it lol
-
Did an hour round trip in her today, had to stop half way to my office to let her cool down, 110degrees, STOP warning light up etc.
Had a coffee, whiz and cigarette break at the garage, then got back ok.
Only the one fan was working, but after an hour on her this evening, I found it was a bad connection at the rear of the fan behind the condenser rad.
Pulled it out, squirted wd40 and put back in, all good now, so hopefully, it's goodbye to the overheating issues, yay!
-
Oh, got tracking done, and middle silencer removed as well, shout out to my buddies at ATS Clacton :) :)
-
Awesome Alex seya at the show ????
-
Has it made much difference to the sound, having the silencer removed. I was thinking of removing mine to give me a little bit more clearance, as the centre silencer catches when I drive off and on my drive :(
Mick
-

Looks like I'll be getting my cutting discs and welder back out then ;)
See you Monday Matey
Mick
-
Nice 1 mate , glad it's all sorted and running well :)
-
Hey Alex.. how are you getting on? I'm guessing loving the attention?
-
Didn't know I had so many friends lol
I am taking her out tomorrow with my mark one escort buddies for a local breakfast meeting, then mothballing her for a couple of months whilst I finish building her new home :)
Really leaning towards the air ride suzzies now, and am going to make it more of a workshop than a showroom now, as I want (can't have yet), a 2 post ramp in there
Still working on the missus for that one, lots of mowing, hoovering to do methinks hehe
-
Just wanted to say.... Chris430, you are my hero lol
Thanks for the instrument binnacle, swapped it out with mine, now I have oil temp, fuel gauge, speedo YAYYY!! Now I don't have to drop the fuel tank and mess about with the sender unit.
Also taken the genuine ferrari footplate off its carpet, and will be treating it with brick cleaner acid, to see if it brings it back to its former glory.
Also, thanks for the loan of the rear quarter window interior trims, so I can use them to make a template to link up with my bulkhead when I get a mo.
Just thinking about that, I will attempt to make the shape out of perspex, as it is easy to bend, cut, glue etc, then just cover with leather fabric and paint rear black.....sound do-able??
Cheers
Alex360
-
Alex your welcome , just don't be thinking of swapping the oem parts for ya make up bits ;)
Glad cluster works,
Can you not just use wood like Micky an Jd ???
Also think I should bring host over , and rip that lump out sat morn , ready for ya man ?? Then you can also clean up engine and box and engine bay , once his done drop it back in , then call him out set up ??

I am using it on my door cards, bulkhead and quarter light pods, then spraying it with bradleys ferrari creme leather paint. The faux leather I used was just too thin and doesn't "feel" right.

Just wondering if your overheating issues were fixed, as you expected (I assume so)?
Coming back from a car show yesterday (driving like an old man, no traffic jams, 45min trip on M-way), my engine temp went to 110 and the STOP warning light came on. The AC doesnt appear to function and I was messing with the controls, had it switched on, also one of the fans seems to be a bit slow, could be a dodgy connection like you had. I'll probably fit a manual fan override, so I have full control of the fans at all times

-
Hi Brian,
No,I haven't sorted the overheating issues yet, as I plan to change out my heater matrix shortly.
However, after much discussion and research, I have decided that it is down to not having enough air through the rad at higher constant speed.
I have just ordered a front splitter for a transit custom (£109 from EBay), and will look to see if this can be adapted to fit my car, with a return curve to help force more air through my radiator.
Also, after speaking with the GOD of extreme kit cars (that's you JD, don't deny it lol), it was also a good idea to remove the A/C and condenser rad, allowing easier flow of air through the rad.
I can always open my windows if it gets too hot.
I am currently finishing building my ferraris new home, and got fencing to do to keep Mrs Alex360 happy, then strip the sports exhaust off my spare donor and the heater matrix, before finally getting to work on mine again.
Hope the ideas above help you and other builders, and I will post updates as I go.
Cheers

Ferrari home update.....
Got the ceiling in, fitted the right hand side bank of 4 led light panels, cladded the rest of the exterior ready for black shiplap, then crashed out with man-flu.
Apparently, a woman about to give birth can almost understand the pain we have to put up with when we get man flu.....................

Look at all that room. Enough for a nice 355 or Lambo ;)
Haha
Going back to your overheating problem, have you seen this

Hi mate,
Yes, I saw this before, only thing is, you don't think you are going to have temp probs, until the car is back, painted, and on the road!! Lol
I didn't fancy making one from scratch, filling/bonding/painting etc, so measured the width of front end against transit custom, and it wasn't that far out, so will let you know how it goes, as I wanted it to be a bolt on/off solution.
Still debating about cutting the extra intakes in the centre, just want to try anything(!!!), else first :)
Cheers

Garage is looking mint buddy ,???????????? a lick of paint on the inside and a sofa and that's my q to pop down lol ,jd
-
Wooo thats a nice garage!!! Looks great! Nice space to work in especially with the large windows!!
Cheers
-
Question guys:
I accidentally bought the wrong lip spoiler for our works ford transit custom (errrrmmm lol)
£109 off EBay, haven't cut it about yet, want your input.
Should I widen it? / paint it red?, move it forwards/backwards?
Have three support rods, 2 support rods and remove centre mount.
Remove all mounts, and fit the support rods from bumper straight onto a flat surface?
Going to fit black curved board on rear to force air into the radiator, so you will only see black where the gap is in the centre later :)
Your comments much appreciated
Cheers
Alex360
-
My opinion
I would widen it
Remove the mounting bits in the middle
And move it back so that it only sticks out about 25mm from the bumper lip all the way round
But it is going to look great :)
Mick
-
Thanks mate, keep it black?
Oh, and got my number plate officially changed today to F36 O AM
Sweeeet
-
Hi buddy I think if you do 2 cuts about where the end of the no plate is where the curve of the splitter is in a straight line from the back of the splitter to about 1/2and inch off the front of the splitter then that should allow you to move the middle bit back and at the same time the outer bits will widen out , hope that makes sense buddy. , jd
-
Thanks mate, keep it black?
Yes Matey :P
Mick
-
That will look the mutts nuts when you get it sorted Alex & defo keep it black ????????????????
-

Yeah I second that!
-
I think that's a great idea, but I will probably do the cuts where the pointy bits are, that way, the centre piece stays straight. :)
Tell you what though, it beats making one from scratch!
Cheers
Alex360

Good link, thanks.
My engine temp seems to have settled since I avoided using the aircon. However, driving home this eve on a 20 min trip on the M-way, my temp gauge hit 110, and the STOP light came on. I was keeping the revs and stress on the engine low. Let ot cool and had to stop 3 more times on the way back. Not good.
My immediate plan is to:
1/ remove the AC rad (condenser) completely to increase air flow through the main rad
2/ clean the fan terminals and ensure they're working effectively
3/ Try and improve the hot air escape route inside the engine bay, it has nowhere to go, the top of the bay is just like an oven
There are two holes to the sides of the wheel arches from the bay, one idea is to fit small 3 or 4" 12v bilge duct fans plus flexible duct to the hot spot. Another is to cut the bonnet to allow the air to escape, but I dont want to do that.
Unusually, my bonnet opens from the rear, the next time I overheat, I'll try driving with it propped open, and see if I can draw the hot air off that way.
Clearly the little slit at the front to allow air into the rad is woefully inadequate. The fan shroud helps focus fan air to the face of the rad, but seems to restrict dynamic air flow as the car moves through the air, so this needs attention IMHO, or fit high performance after market fans with no shroud.
Wondering if these extreme 360s are used that much by their owners, as I'd have thought this issue would have cropped up much more, especially in summer months and in the UK, which has heavier traffic than where I am.
I'll post this as a new topic
B
Look at all that room. Enough for a nice 355 or Lambo ;)
Haha
Going back to your overheating problem, have you seen this

So, today I started on my wheel arch liners, thank you to 4u2nv for donating them :)
Firstly, I offered them up and trimmed to fit where necessary, then got fixings into the original, arch metal where I could with the plastic wheel arch fixings.
There was no support by the wing edge to keep it in place, and I didn't want to have a bar across from the wing to the inner wing as I wanted to keep the front clip removal as simple as possible.
So I used "bandit strap", wonderful stuff.
-
.
-
I managed to pick up a fixing off the battery tray on nsf, and off bottom of water bottle on osf.
Then fitted my black wheels on. Just one more arch to do tomorrow
P.s. Wheel is hanging in the air in this pic ;)

Yes mate, wanted a roller shutter with insulation in it, it also compresses together once shut, so my garage should be toasty in the winter. Make - Gliderol
I much prefer my black wheels, but think there may be a coupl of slow punctures, so a trip to ATS next week methinks.
Cheers

That's what all my women say lol

Finished wheel arch liners today, put my final wheel on, cleaned it up and then put my " trims4rims" around it
-
Bad ass rims mate!!
Regarding het wheel arche liners: arent they blocking the air flow? Oem ones have ventilation slits in them for cooling the brakes... Yours being all closed up might prevent aditional air flow for cooling the engine, no??
-
I'm a big fan of Black wheels :P :P :P
Mick

I love the black wheels.. but then my Murci has something very similar :-)

Hi dman,
It was an urgent issue to get them fitted as the wheels were throwing gravel between the inner wing and the door causing damage.
I will be cutting access grills in at a later date, (not going any where for the foreseeable, so braking not required lol)
-
Had a busy couple of days, with my mate getting garage floor level, so I can fit my 2 post lift.
I mixed 4 tonnes of concrete yesterday....... #knackered :)
-
And a pic of my 360 waiting to get in!!!

Did you manage to do anything with the Transit front splitter Matey
Mick
-
Hi Guys,
Been really busy at work, Mickey, I haven't had a chance to look any further at the splitter yet, but outside of garage finished, took the car to ATS yesterday and got a slow puncture repaired, also got the rear exhaust lifted by cutting a few inches off my home made y piece, so doesn't scrape on the ground so much now :)
-
P.S.
Still got a small oil drip at back of engine that drips onto the manifold, so she smokes out the back of her bonnet, which is a nightmare to get to.
Also still have squeak from fan belt pulley, am certain now that it is not the belt but the bearings in the tension pulley, so will have to sort that too
-
Finally got the outside of my ferrari home finished!!!
Just got to plasterboard and paint the inside now ;)
Cheers
Alex360

Merry Christmas everyone, sorry I havent been very active lately, but been doing mad hours at work, 0430 - 1900 most days.
Got let down on some fake discs I was waiting for, but been refunded and now need to source somewhere local to get some made up, that way I can keep on their arse and pester them til it's done lol
I am in a quandary as to whether I should pull the engine out and get it sorted, or leave as is so that I know I will make Stoneleigh.
Time is flying past, and I worry that I might not get her back together in time, (with work as it is at mo)
JD, I am supposed to be doing a job in Newcastle very soon for a couple days, so will try to pop in and drop brillo's cluster fascia off to you.
Mickey, really exicited for you mate, won't be long now buddy
Cheers
Alex360

Happy Christmas ????????????

Hi guys,
Quick update, have started stripping down my engine to get to the bottom of these oil leaks, currently taking off the rocker covers to see if this is where the leak at the rear is from, once I have resealed these I will run up the engine and check, if not, it will be a head removal!!
-
Also decided to fit new plugs, but found puddles of oil round each one, should I gasket seal the spark plug cover module to prevent this in future, or do you think it will affect the earthing of the plugs and therefore engine performance
Comments appreciated
Al360
-
Bloody 'ell, hello stranger ;D
Haha
Are you sure that the oil round the plugs is not from spilt oil from careless oil filling
If not, sounds to me like a cover gasket gone and not a reason for head removal
Fingers crossed Matey
Mick
-
Hi Mickey,
Took the rear spark plug bank off....... FULL of oil!!
Have spent all day resealing rocker covers, put it all back together, and guess what?
The one at the back leaks ffs - gotta do it again, hopefully got the afternoon off tomorrow with my helper Wayne lol
-
Can I ask how easy it is to get at the spark plugs? I heard on the 3L V6 they wear out much faster than other cars, I'm guessing the rear bank is a right pain to get to. Need to do mine.
Nice reg you have on there!
-
Here you go Matey
I don't know if this is of any help

Did you manage to sort the oil leak Matey
Mick
-
Hi Mickey, second time round, I went to pug main dealer and paid £45(!!!!), for the recommended gasket sealant by loctite.
No more leaks!!
Yay
-
So, after days of trawling the web for replacement or upgraded breather pipes, I realised that unless I want some from a scrappy it wasn't happening.
Decided to use hose pipe and gasket sealant to repair the existing ones.
-
That's £45 well spent though Matey Mate
-
Guess so buddy, at least it's sorted now, here's a pic of the breather pipe repair bodge
-
If it does the job then who cares what it looks like. Are you able to still fit the cover on the engine or does it fail on the bonnet
-
Yep, the cover still fits mate :)
-
Front splitter project........
-
That looks aggresive. Will look the nuts when finished
I would keep it black as well :P
Mick
-
Ok, so bit the bullet and yanked the engine, will keep you updated on my progress.
Just spent nigh on £750 in seals, clutch, cam belt etc, so she should be a nice reliable motor when done.
Also found some cracks in the top of the exhaust down pipe where it meets the flexible bracket, so will get that welded up.
I have decided to cut out the bent up piece of panel that holds the bottom of the radiator and am replacing it with 3x1 box section.
Cheers
Alex360
-
In fact, if you zoom in on the exhaust at rear you can see the sooty black crack in the pic!!
Oh, and obviously, I am going to clean out the engine bay and paint it up with shutz or similar. :)
-
' Flippin eck Tucker ' you mean business ;D
At least it will be all done and peace of mind Matey
Mick
-
Hi Guys,
Little update..... My original mechanic let me down, so managed to rope an old friend in who has worked all over the globe on all types of engines, (stroke of luck!!!)
Some of the leaks on the gasket covers have been explained by the fact that the bolts have threaded out of the ally head.
We drilled the head out to 6.5mm diameter and installed 6mm heli coils - sorted
Timing locked off and cam belt removed, water pump replaced, cam sprockets removed and cam carriers resealed and rocker covers resealed.
More next week..........

Where have you found a air ride kit I looked some time ago and had no luck finding any for the 406 coupe
eBay of course, will fit over GAZ strut on front
-
That kit is too expensive try stance parts.com
-
That looks a good kit you will have to post a video when you get it all running bit pricey but think it will be worth it I've all ways worried about how it would drive being so low
