Hi I'm Lee just bought a 355 spider thanks to Jd & Steve it's a bad kit & there's lots of work to do here's a few pics hopefully will be done for stoneleigh .
Thanks Lee
-
Hey buddy welcome to the forum ,I'm sure we will hav it ready for stoneliegh show especially the time your putting into it, jd
-
Got some work ahead but I'm sure we will be there bud ????
-
Woot.. about bloody time :-) Yep the kit is a B.A.D rev2 Kit I think, the rev 1 had a bigger space before the pop up lights. Really looking forward in seeing you progress on this.. keep those photos coming :-)
Do tell us what you're intending to do to her? Oh.. and if you need any info on the kit I think Brian from DNA was part of the original design crew.
Steve
-
Haha i got on here in the end Steve we have already removed the tunnel & flat floored it & had to relocate the fuel tank making a new fire wall for it to sit behind its back up & running off the key again:)
-
Wow.. you are moving fast bud !!
I found a photo for you, it's not of your car but 1 of 3 I think that Evans Motorsport did. From my knowledge (which isn't much) you have a very rare car there..
Keep them photos coming :-) let me know if I can help in anyway.
Steve
-
Thanks Steve . Hopefully the interior will be all done by the end of January I've managed to find a genuine dash , consoles & all clocks & dials the only thing I'm struggling with is the two side vents for the dash they are wanting arms & legs for the genuine ones???????????? but I'm informed that you have a 3D printer wink wink lol
-
You're as bad as JD for taking photos.. I hope you can make better coffee :-)
If you can get me a photo with some sizes then I'll certainly have a go at something for you on my printer not a problem at all. I print in ABS which can be sanded down and painted and does have a bit of flex in it so should be ideal for at least trying something for you.
Post something up and I'll have a go.
Steve
-
Thanks Steve I'll take some measurements tomorrow & some more photos how's the Lambo getting on ?
-
Hi Lee,
Nice to see you on the forum mate, you are cracking on well.
Look forward to seeing the progress on this :)
Cheers
Alex360
-
Lambos coming on great thanks. Is your speedo electrical or cable that you are transferring too? The MR2 first came with cable but then later swapped to pulse. Mine is cable but I do have a spare pulse unit that goes in the gearbox if it helps you can have?
I can also help if you need a pulse conversion building device. I've tapped into my pulse which is generated at the rear of my clocks so can read the speed to operate my spoiler / batwings so I've already done some work on it.
-
Hi Lee
Welcome and like others have said can't wait to see this 1 done :)
Your cracking on great , keep the pics coming .
Chris
-
Welcome Lee.
Looks like a nice build there, do I spot a 360 in the background ;)
Keep the pics coming
Mick
-
Yay a 355, I'll be watching with interest, especially regarding the gauges etc. I have all the OEM vents. ..........Steve if you had the side vents in your hand would you be able to make copies for Lee?
Good luck Lee
Rich.
-
Welcome Lee.

Oh right. Thought there was another 360 out there. Didn't know that was JD's place.
Well Lee, it's about time we had some updated pics, because Alex's car was like that ages ago ;)
Haha
Mick
PS. ...... 3 more posts now haha
-
.Steve if you had the side vents in your hand would you be able to make copies for Lee?
I would be able t draw it up. I should be ok for making the surround and should be able to get the correct bend by heating it up in the oven to about 100 deg's but for the actual working bits I'm not sure.. at least he would have something to plug the hole until he finds some at a reasonable price.
-
Hi guys thanks for you support its great to find so many like minded people ???? .
Had a few hours on her tonight while Jd was working on Alex's managed to make & start fitting the rear bulk with the recesses in for the control units to be mounted it's coming on well ????.
-
Hi guys had another few hours on her tonight got the steering column & steering wheel modified & fitted & dash into place :) also managed to buy some genuine seats in the colour I want so I'm ahead of schedule:) .

Looks like you Sused the pics now buddy , they are the right way now ,jd

Thanks mickey :)
-
Great to meet you today at Jds lee ,
And wow your 355 is going to be something else I've always seen those and seen the MR2 , but there was no sign of that there in your build , it is phat mate :)
-
Thanks Chris I've got some homework for you to do so that you can understand us next time haha
-
Hi guys I've done a bit more on her tonight while Jd is finishing Alex's 360 we just mounting all the interior parts then the clock wiring to do then the interior is done for now ????
-
Superb! hope you can get those dials working (nobody has got a set working yet, as far as I'm aware). Martyn Lock's BAD F355 is worth looking at (assuming you haven't already done so), kitcar mag appearances and Italian Replica Car club show winner, with full genuine 355 interior
-
Looking fab lee, but what does marra mean?
It's not in your list lol
Cheers
Alex360
-
Hi Brian I hope I can as well yeah I've got that magazine it's my inspiration haha hand Alex marra means mate lol????
-
Hi Lee,
Lovin this, if you get those clocks working I would appreciate it if you could pass on what you did.
Cheers
Rich
-
Are the 355 clocks all digital ? As in no speedo cables etc? It shouldnt be to hard to generate a pulse to get them working. I would use an Arduino to do the conversion for the dials.
Let me know if you need any help.
Steve
-
Hahaha you forgot dut ;)
-
Hi rich thanks I don't think it will be too hard to get them working especially with Stevens help he sounds like he has researched it already haha yeah Steve they are all electronic I hoping they run off the same signal if not then I will need to find something to alter it ????
-
Hahaha you forgot dut ;)
Haha can't forget me hat lol
-
We will hav them all speaking Geordie before long bud lol ,we all need to be talking the same language by the time we get to the first show lol, jd
-
I would be careful just connecting the wires up and seeing what happens. Generally the fuel / oil temp use a resistive voltage, so say read between 2v and 12v for empty and full (just an example). These can be different per car and may be alot less or more volts. Normally the Rev / Speedo work off a constant voltage with a variable frequency, which lends itself easily to pulse-width modulation. So you would read the time between each pulse and that would then convert into rpm or mph. These can differ greatly between cars. On the MR2 the pulse also links into things like the fuel pump (runs at a lower voltage on tick over) and on the ECU it brings in the speed limiter on imports. You will then have all your warning bulbs but they should'nt be that tricky really.
-
Hi,
I'm off to see my car on Monday and take some bits I've purchased to see if these do the trick, as I said on mine tarting up diary, we have a working rev counter (don't know how accurate it is myself) but nothing else so far.
Ive got for the speedo and rev counter (if req) 2 x Jay Car speedo corrector modules which was suggested by Nick355, he has done his own bespoke solution though. Cost about £50 including import duty for the pair.
http://www.jaycar.co.uk/Automotive-%26-Mobile-Security/Car-Electronic-Access-%26-Accessories/Car-Access-Accessories/CORRECTOR-SPEEDO-MODULE/p/AA0376
Nick can't remember exactly but said Rev counter is 2 x and Speedo signal something like 2.4 or 3.4x.
It was Nick who advised Martyn Lock regarding his install.
For the fuel gauge I have got
http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/electronic-fuel-gauge-matcher
Or something like an 82ohm power resister in series (so Nick355 tells me)
Not sure if the above may also be suitable for the water temp as I am told (Nick again) an instrumentation amplifier with variable gain and offset is required for that and this appears to be such a device.
Cheers
Rich
-
Thanks rich they look like just the things that we need they are defo worth a try what do you think Steve ??
Cheers
Lee
-
If the Jaycar modules didn't work I was contemplating these
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=126/prd126.htm
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=127/category_id=-1/mode=prod/prd127.htm
I don't know how much work it would be for Steve to do something with the Arduino idea or what info he would need, I have no idea what type of signal the MR2 generates or what the F355 gauges are expecting, its all smoke n mirrors to me.
-
Hi Lee,
Any progress pics buddy?
