Extreme ChitChat / Re: DNA DN8 - eurgh!
« on: October 11, 2012, 04:27:00 PM »
to me .. it just shows how important even an inch can be. The real Ferrari is just amazing, beautiful, fantastic. It "fits" and it makes the car one of the most beautiful Ferraris out there (in my opinion).
Now look at the DNA. From the front, even certain angled side shots, it looks the same. But then you see a real side shot, an other angles, and you see it is off. And it makes a HUGE difference! All of a sudden the beautiful lines of the original car are gone. Even someone who does not know the real 458 will notice some sort of miss-proportion. I don't want to take away from the quality of the parts, or the easy built it apparently has. But it is a fact - because of it the car loses the great proportions that make the real one a beauty. The DNA just looks a little awkward (to me) and I would rather buy an older Porsche 911 or Mercedes SL and drive a real car than having  an off-looking replica. But that's just me ...

don't want to sound negative, that's why I point out their great skills. It's just that even someone who does not know a lot about Ferraris will get the feeling something is wrong. Ferraris have very distinctive shapes, and this one just looks distorted. That was my point - an easy to install kit is great, no doubt about it, but why don't they use their great skills and create an easy to install kit that does not try to be a 458? Something screaming super car, their own! If someone does not know Spyker you could think it is a kit car, right? But people pay BIG bucks for it.

So again - not taking away from DNAs skills ... but it just does not look right (in my opinion). That's what sets Extreme apart from the rest .. but yes, for a price. Lots of work and some headaches with them and their customer support (hint, hint!!). But I just had a chat with Ashley, always interesting to hear the "other side". Remember .. always two sides to a stroy ;)

hmmm..it's just ... not really a replica. And in my opinion and withthe great skills they have .. they should not produce something that only resembles the car. For me a replica is something as close as possible to the real deal. So I would say - if it is not spot on, then why not use the skills and create your own design? Or use one of the protoypes we see all the time from Ferrari or Lamborghini. This way no one cares if it is "off" .. it will look like a super car and people will think it is one of the small boutique car manufacturers such as Spyker or Koeniggsegg
Just my 2 cents ...

Reading my own post...I really don't want to take away from DNAs skills. They did a great job and offer a most likely easy to install kit. I am just all about being as close to the original as possible, and for that reason I posted the comment. It's just not for me.

Great skills..but the car is way off. Look at the sideline. Looks like the Cougar/Audi R8 thing we saw a while back. But it's a simple kit, so for that it is ok I think. But it is miles away from being accurat. Worse than the MR2 355 replicas for sure. Just my .2 cents

Hi ... well, I have seen both cars and they are amazing .. but I think I would go for the 430. It's a super stylish car, and very practical. As you say .. you have a big trunk area if needed and even 4 seats if needed. Also - the Peugeot comes with a nice dash and tons of equipment. Spare parts are easy to get and cheap (well, for both cars actually), it has a decent engine .. and in a way it is almost more believable than the Murci. I love the Murci .. but it is a car for the weekend .. the 430 can be a daily driver.
Just my .2 cents

man, seriously .. you will drive over one little bump, hear a cracking noise .. and your car will have hundreds of little cracks :-(  Why oh why do you do this??? You should have left the car as it was, and buy either a kit or a half finished one. This one here will not only look weird especially around the wheels ... you will not enjoy it. Yes, you say you will only drive it once or twice .. but that's enough to get the cracks .. and if you will not really drive it - why then the Corvette engine??? I don't question your abilities, not at all .. I just think you waste a lot of time and money. Just my .02 cents ;-)
