Build Threads / Phils 4thirty Build on YouTube!
« on: March 01, 2021, 07:41:42 PM »
Hi guys,

During lockdown, I thought I would use some of my spare time to take my 4thirty build thread and make a series of youtube videos which may be of interest to new and seasoned kit car builders.

My channel is called "Fun2Fix" and also has various other videos (some on my Porsche 911).

I have just completed Part 1, take a look here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdtDSMdMRkzYWbhShyElb7moJSeYm_ypZ and if you like it, please subscribe to my channel and switch on notifications to receive information when new videos are posted.

If you like the videos, please click on the thumbs up and also feel free to leave a comment!

Enjoy!!

Regards
Phil "Fun2fix"

BARGAIN FOR ANYONE LOOKING AT BUYING A TURNKEY EXTREME 430 BUILD!!

It is with great regret that I now need to sell my Extreme 430 built to stage 1. this is due to personal reasons.

It has been built on a donor of a superb example 2001 Peugeot 406 3.0L V6 Coupe D9 model...not a Cat C or D.

The car has 88k miles on it and is MOT'd until Aug 1st 2012, the V5 is in my name.

Up to now, I have invested the following:

Donor car 406 3.0L V6........................£1500
Extreme body kit................................£6000
Fake engine/2 seater kit........................£600
Dampertech suspension kit.....................£700
Extreme suspension parts.......................£150
Stage 1 build costs..............................£3000
Plus lots of other bits to get to stage 1....£?
                                             Total  £11950+

This car has been built with care and attention to safety and detail.

I stripped the car down myself, but I employed the use of Auto Transformations, who I consider to be one of the best kit car building companies around to carry out all of the structural work and welding, which they have done in a professional manner and to a high standard.

The car has had all of the suspension kit installed (i.e. fully lowered) and uses the "new" solution where the Wishbones have been altered
(professionally by Extreme), the driveshafts have been extended (professional by Auto Transformations) and the track rods are extended with the extreme supplied parts, new track rod ends have also been fitted. This means that the wheel spacers for the front wheels will be much smaller than the previous solution and will therefore produce less wear on the front wheel bearings and better handling.

Auto Transformations have also altered the subframe so that the 430 kit fits on correctly, as before the alteration, the rear quarters bind on
the frame and won't sit properly, the frame also has been altered to mount an original 430 rear silencer (see pictures linked below)

The car is sat with Auto Transformations in their workshop at this time as they are still completing the stage 1 build to get the car up to a
completely bodied stage. This WILL be ready for July.

The next stage would be to filler and sand the car and prep for and paint it, which they would have done ALL of this for me for only £2500!
I have talked to Auto Transformations, and they will extend this offer to whomever buys the car, or, the buyer can take it away to complete it
themselves, it would be up to new owner.

#### YOU WOULD OWE AUTO TRANSFORMATIONS NO MONEY WHATSOEVER ####

as it has all been paid for up to stage 1 build or pay £2500 to Auto Transformations and get the car back all painted to any colour of your choice! (this can be confirmed by ringing them and they can be found based near Hull)

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants one of these excellent inch perfect replica Fezza 430 kit cars from the best kit car
producer around and doesn't want to wait months for the kit to be made by Extreme and then wait even longer for all of the extra work to be
done after that.

I would say that, after the Stage 1 build has completed, about 2-3 months work (depending on spray shop time...) is left in this project
to get it on the road.

I have also aquired an Original Fezza 430 Rear silencer and pipes (cost me £700) and also a full set of pattern rear lights (4 lights
plus 3rd rear) and side repeaters (costs me £650) and I will give the new owner the option to buy both of these off me for £1200, or I
can sell these seperately if they do not want them.

I have a build thread which runs up to when Auto Transformations took the car in to finish the stage 1 build and it can be viewed here:

If you have "builder" status on Extreme OC: http://extremeoc.co.uk/index.php/topic,1949.0.html
If you have a madmechanics login go here: http://www.madmechanics.com/forum/build-diaries/14865-phils99-extreme-430-build-thread.html
If you have non of the above, go here http://philsf430.blogspot.co.uk/search?updated-max=2011-10-23T03:47:00-07:00&max-results=7

I am looking for around £9,999 for the car (thats £2000 less than the money I have put in to it already!), or £11,200 including the exhaust and lights.

Please feel free to contact me for more detail if you need them.
I am on 07887534032

I have this advertised other places and on the forums so I reserve the right to remove it if it sells elsewhere.

Phil

Extreme 430 / 430/360 Peugeot 406 mirror stripdown
« on: March 09, 2012, 10:49:42 PM »

As it took me about 1 hour to figure out how to strip down the Peugeot 406 mirrors, I thought I would post this information on how it is done to make it easier for you guys!

take the disconnected mirror

firstly bend the mirror to reveil the tab to enable the removal of the back cover

this is the tab to release

now ease of the back cover

Back cover now off...

Carefully unclip the heated mirror connections

you can now push the mirror out from the back

Unscrew the 3 screws inside the mirror adjuster

unplug this connecter and the mirror adjuster is removed

undue the 3 outer screws of this metal plate

now undue the 3 inner screws....

and it will now come off...

mirror dismantled

screw the back plate back onto the mirror adjuster, this is the piece you will bond into your Ferrari mirror...

gently prise off the mirror glass from the heater circuit board

we now need to get the wiring harness out, cut off the blue and red connectors for the heated mirror

cut the wires for the mirror folding motor, as we wont be needing these

twist this clip to remove...

and cut this tie wrap...

remove this cap

undue the 3 screws...

folding motor now released,

cut the wires to the microswitch....

...and pull them through the hole

we can now remove the blue plug and this is easy to do and avoids cutting the wires!! slide the grey plastic bit to one side and remove. make a note of the locations of the wires in the plug

now using a small screwdriver, push down the clip on the plug insert and slide the metal piece out of the plug, do this for all connectors

you now have removed the plug and you should now be able to.....

...remove the wires through the folding motor and...

...remove the wires through the mirror body.

we can now make the harness thinner by removing completely the unused wires by pulling them through the harness....

...so that they all hang loose

we will now remove them from the plug neatly without leaving any cut ends, firstly lower the grey piece from the plug itself

raise the plastic locking piece and then take a small screwdriver and push down in the middle of the metal connector to release another locking piece...

...the wire should then just slide out, repeat for all the unused wires

replace the grey plastic and your plug should look like this

If your Ferrari mirror is ready, you can now thread the end without a plug into the body of the mirror and replace the blue plug by inserting each wire back into the correct slot. If you are going to use the heated mirror, you will need to reconnect the red and blue wires...job done!!

Extreme 430 / Anyone have a F430 fake engine and not the 360 fake engine?
« on: February 02, 2012, 03:52:31 PM »
I would like to get hold of a 430 fake engine for my extreme 430 kit to replace the 360 one I was supplied with from extreme, anyone have one?
Or even just a mold of the rocker covers as I think the rest is the same...

Extreme 430 / Extreme 430 Front struts
« on: December 01, 2011, 03:09:54 PM »
For the suspension I know we need the Dampertech coilovers, and that the front wishbones also need to be altered by Extreme.

But I am not sure if we also need to move the top strut mounting back a bit still?
Cant find much on the DVD about this.....

If we do how much?

Extreme ChitChat / My extreme visit....
« on: October 28, 2011, 10:35:49 PM »
Right, after all the negativity, I thought i would post my experience up on this forum....

I went today to pick up my F430 kit from Extreme.

I had arranged to meet Damian at 6pm, as he said that he and another would come back to load all the kit into the van I had hired....and they did, every last piece of it....

I took with me a printout of what should be In the kit, as I had ordered the full kit, plus glass, plus fake engine and 2 seater conversion and the fake discs and calipers....

What did I get? ALL of the above, plus a couple of extras ( thx Damian!). The only parts missing were

1. The fake discs, as they did not know what wheel fitting I would be using, now they do, I will get those when they are ready, and
2. The drivers door glass and rear glass....again Damian will get these for me and let me know...

The best part was that he would not take ANY money for the missing parts even though they had given me half the glass and the fake calipers!!

I spent a good hour chatting about the build and gleaned loads of info and contacts for other bits I will need.....

All-in-all a really pleasant experience.....keep up the good work extreme!

Oh, and last time I went, I think they had about 6 lambo's on the go, now they must have about 8!!!!

Looking good Extreme!!!!!!

EXTREME GUYS

Not sure what you websitre hit rate is, but I think it would be a great idea to have a link from the Extreme web site into this forum, that way:

1. Extreme may increase sales as potential buyers could gleam more info about the products from this forum,
2. The existing forum users would benefit with more members and potentially more builders!
3. potential buyers would get a feel good factor knowing that they have a dedicated forum to turn to for help!

What do you this guys? comments? pros/cons?
