Extreme 360 / Re: Rear camber on 360?
« on: November 02, 2014, 08:38:12 AM »
I didnt find one last time I was looking, I just used a file and some new decent chunky washers. I slotted the lower arm so the lower bolt moved to where required and played around with the position, then once totally happy (I.e. drive around on it a bit and re measure the camber)  I put 2 spot welds holding each washer in place. Has worked fine on 3 different 360's for me and costs very little to do. I also use a home made camber gauge made from a kid's protractor, some cotton and a small bolt! You do need a level garage or a good datum point to work from I.e. a standard car which you can use to find how level your garage is.

They had one 99% finished in at extreme last time I was there. It had everything done, I think they were just working on putting the fake brakes/badges and little trim bits on. I didnt take any pics, but maybe extreme may have some?

The 430 kit is more accurate than the 360 if anything. The rear quarter shape and area where the bootlid meets the rear quarters was tweaked when they did the 430. The main panels are perfect as they were moulded from my brand new genuine 430 panels. The genuine 360 and 430 body frames are essentially the same i.e. you can update a 360 to 430 looks. The doors, bonnet and roof are exactly the same. The front wings are the same contours just with different cut outs for the lights, so the conversion of the extreme 360 kit to extreme 430 kit was relatively simple.
The panels that needed to be changed were both rear wings, rear bumper, bootlid, both sills and front bumper. The front wings were modified to take my genuine lights, so the cutouts are spot on shape. The front lights again were moulded from my genuines, so perfect shape.
To get the look perfect it just needs careful work to make sure you end up with nice curvature on the roof and curved tops to the screen. It also needs the suspension set nice & low so the stance of the car is right.

Extreme 360 / Re: Plexiglass
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:48:39 AM »
Hi, yep I have fitted several sets of windows now for builders. As JD says there is nothing wrong with the plexi, it is the fact it is a pillarless door that causes the problem when combined with the plexi which in its nature is slightly flexible.
Other issues are that the pug (as with most 'new' cars these days) learns the window position & relies on a force feedback to set its upper and lower positions. With it being pillarless it also drops a cm or so when the door latch is operated so it clears the rubbers. All this can be a bit tricky to set up with the new runner positions etc. I have lost count of the number of hours I have spent with my arms inside these damned doors working blind! Oh & make sure you have someone within earshot when you do, as if the car suddenly senses too much pressure when you are adjusting it does the safety 'full window drop' which will trap both your arms & have your fingers if they are in the scissor part of the mech. Can you guess how I know this!  :o
The angle of the window is also greater to allow for the lower roof, so the bottom of the window needs to push out to where the side impact bar was in the door.

As JD said, they will flex if opened a few cm at motorway speeds, not a lot, but enough so they dont seat back into the top when closed if still at speed. You just need to wait till you slow to close them unfortunately. Its not an issue & no adjustment will change them, its just something you have to live with when you have plexi side windows.

Main advice i would give is not to treat the side windows as a last job, make sure you get them done early before the outer skin of your door is bonded, that gives you the best chance to get them right & the best access possible. Also get the door handles and latches done and working at the same time, as with the window in the right place the levers etc are very close to the window.

Sorry I havent done any of the A3 windows, JD is your man for those!

Extreme 360 / Re: Headlights failed MOT
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:24:32 AM »
Had to do this on a build I had in, go slowly and carefully with the dremel! I made a groove almost through & then used a wide screwdriver to gently crack the bonder so i didnt end up going right through. The projectors on the one I was doing had been disassembled, the blind had been turned the other way up and reassembled. So the light pattern ended up pointing into the traffic and into the sky & the road was blanked off! Someone didnt pay attention in physics at school when they were teaching how light patterns behave!
You should be able to just put a fixed projector unit in as the extreme headlight has those long screws and balljoints for adjusting both main and dip at the same time.
Long shot, but does the light unit steam up? Maybe try having a look inside the projector with the bulb out, the lense at the end may be dirty on the inside reducing light output?

Im sure you have a genuine 360 at your place too, as I did a proper double take at the empty engine bay. This has to be the ultimate Extreme 360!
Really like the attention to detail, keep up the good work mate!

Extreme ChitChat / Re: Ferrari Fuel/oil cap
« on: April 30, 2014, 03:52:27 PM »
Hi, sorry no updates, I have been mad busy recently.
Photo shows the caps on a MK2 MR2 fuel cap. The outer cover (the bit that makes the clicking noise when you have tightened the cap) has been removed and if I make the cap with just gelcoat and no fibreglass reinforcing, there is enough space for it to slide over the top. It would then need bonding in place.

The cap for the peugeot has a bigger top with the securing tabs on the outside, so you cant reduce it down. This cover has to sit on top of the peugeot cap, so it looks great when fitted, but a little more bulky when off the car. This one can have fibreglass inside to strengthen no probs.

My cam is being a pain at the moment, so apologies Dan, but pics for the pug one will be up here later this aft. I am assuming you will be wanting both with fibreglass reinforcing inside so I have them sat waiting. Just need you to confirm and let me know the delivery add & will get them sent over to you mate.

Have PM'd you back now Bruno

Extreme ChitChat / Re: What size van
« on: April 30, 2014, 03:27:48 PM »
I dont think you will be able to fit it in your Navara, I have had rear quarters, rear bumper and a few other bits in the back of my L200 all together but it didnt work well and risked damage. The last thing you want is to crack or damage your new kit. Also the rear frame is pretty big just on its own. I would say go for the biggest van you can get so you aren't forcing anything in (I used a 7.5t horsebox, but that was maybe a little excessive & we have it sat there anyway!). The best guys to ask would be Kev & Warren as they will have seen what everyone has turned up in to pick up kits & how well they fitted. If you are trying to keep costs down & have a Navara, maybe hire a big box trailer, they are only cheap to hire & you would have the Navara AND the box space to go at.
Good luck with it mate!

Looking damned good! I need to re read back through the thread about how you did your mirrors as I have 2 sets to do now! Would you do them the same again if you had to?
I keep forgetting you have a 355 too!

Are you getting the ally strips on the doors before it goes to paint as you have to tweak them and drill into the door to fix, which I wouldnt want to do after its all nice & shiny!

Still amazed how you get it through that garage door!!

I didnt think the genuine ones fit the reps? Also the genuine ones are usually black I think (been away from 355 work for a while)

PM me if you want a stainless set making up.

Extreme 355 / Re: Fitting 19inch wheels to the front
« on: March 29, 2014, 04:54:29 PM »
Hi, I have 235/35/19's on the front of my 355 with coilovers. The wheel does rub at full lock but only just (I have hammered it back pretty much as far as it will go). My 19" wheels wouldnt fit without coilovers, the tyre touches the underside of the lower spring support.
Also, when you are this close, the brand of tyre can make a difference for overall diameter as some have differing tread depths. If you are really struggling, another way of gaining a bit of clearance (and saving a few quid) is to go for a set of part worns!  ;D

I have another set of the 355 lookalike 19's with correct spacers to fit an Extreme 355. PM me if you are interested?

Extreme ChitChat / Re: Ferrari Fuel/oil cap
« on: March 29, 2014, 03:58:11 PM »
Forum is getting busier now so thought I would add my update on the fuel/oil caps.

I didnt want to sell any of the last ones I made as after I did a few more mouldings I couldnt get the top surface to come out perfectly flat and the latex mould seemed to stick to the resin. It seems if you use latex over a metal former it causes problems and doesnt give you a smooth finish. Also the uneven surface was due to the latex being too flexible and didnt stay on the former I made.

So time for version 2 using a silicone mould!

Result is much much better, holds the shape nicely and gives a really nice smooth finish.

So im much happier with these and the 'production line' is up and running  ;D , if anyone wants one give me a shout.

The first pic shows them as they come out of the mould, second is after it has had a quick polish. More pics soon once i get it on a buffing wheel. The material has 60% aluminium powder in it, so it polishes like metal, you just need to rub the surface down to expose the metal which is combined with the resin. It goes all black just like aluminium does when you polish and then needs buffing. This first one I scuffed off with a scotch pad first which was too coarse so there are still a few scratches after polishing.
I can also do them in plain gelcoat if you would rather paint them.

Lamborghini fuel cap and properly drilled headlight bezels next!!

Looks great! Never thought of painting it. How has the edge between the slightly soft dash and the bits you added worked out?
