General Chitchat / Re: Insuring a kitcar/replica

From my experience. Insurance will be on what it is post conversion if insuring through a specialist kit kar insurance provider such as Footman James, the value, the annual mileage will also have an impact. My car, A Jap Import N/A MR2 is a group 18 insurance and would cost a fortune if insured as such. With Footman James it is insured as quote per my policy "Extreme Ferrari Replica". As such it qualifiys as a kit car and is considerably cheaper than as an MR2. Bear in mind that usually you do not use these as "everyday" cars and that a restricted annual mileage clause is part if the policy that will bring the cost down.

Richard

Hi,

If you are an Extreme owner and want access to the build treads, send a private message requesting this to CdRsKuLL and he will add you.

Hi Adam,

The company was Mirror Finish in Corby, they don't do this work any more as far as I know, mine was one of the last cars that they worked on along with the silver one seen on the youtube video, he said he was quitting the business. Mine is not a pro build, it was resprayed at Mirror Finish but built privately. The headlamp covers are bonded to the MR2 covers, these are then bolted to the lights, these I did myself. I do not have MR2 headlights fitted to the car but low rise quads by Rogue Systems. They took a long time to line up.

Cheers

Richard

Other kitcar chat / Re: HERES SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

I like the front and rear ends, looks mean with an essence of R8, from the side, now thats a different matter, I don't think its a nice profile, replica or not. Its certainly not a good R8 replica, reminds me of those nasty looking Testarossa replicas built on a Fiero. Maybe his school report said "could try harder".

Hi,

Its a 1993 Imported N/A coupe. I've had this a number of years. Bought it to do up. Was yellow when I first got it, changed the colour, wheels, had the interior re-trimmed (have the extreme interior kit but not fitted as yet), added low rise quad headlamps folding mirrors, geniune fuel filler flap and Hi Fi. I had most of the work done by Extremes former agent as I didn't have a garage at the time. I did redo the headlamp covers myself after fitting the lights. Oh yeah, also have genuine H gate fitted, that makes a huge difference to the look of the interior.

Cheers

Richard
