Extreme Smart Car / Removing exhaust servo motor
« on: April 10, 2009, 07:36:29 AM »
This is removed when fitting an aftermarket exhaust. You will then get a warning light on the gsxr clocks. Doing the below i'm told will remove this light..

In order to prevent a warning light appearing on the dash now that the exhaust valve has been removed it will be necessary to remove a pin from the fuel injection computer. Disconnect the two connectors from the computer. Take the larger of the two connectors and from the rear identify pin number 33 with a black and brown wire (see diagram). On one side of the front of the connector are two white tabs, on the opposite side is a single white tab. Push in the single white tab; the two white tabs on the opposite side will push out. Pull the black and brown wire of pin 33 out of the back of the connector and the pin will come with it. Push the two white tabs back into place to lock the remaining pins. Wrap some electrical tape around the pin and tape it to the wiring harness. Re-connect harness to computer.

Will let you know when I get round to this..

Build Threads / Smart Car Build - CdRsKuLL
« on: March 29, 2009, 09:33:47 PM »
Well after spending 30 mins searching through the mySQL database.. I cant find my build thread.. so will have to start a new one.

I still have all the pic's but will go through them another night.

As it goes I managed to spend a whole hour and a bit. This is the first free time I've had really since I picked my subframe up from extreme. Anyway.. I spent tonight fitting some new springs and shocks to the rear sub before it goes back in.

Below are a couple of pic's.. next stage I think is to offer it upto the car.

O yeah forgot to mention.. I had to hacksaw 6mm off (3mm each side) off the bottom bush on one end of my new shock.. As for some reason it was too big.. the other side fitted fine.  O well.. must of been a friday afternoon shock.. lol Also my new springs are ment to lower the car by 40mm !! I will fit the front ones when its all back on its wheels and running.

Extreme Smart Car / GSXR keyless..
« on: February 22, 2009, 08:43:25 PM »
I found this on another forum.. not tried it yet but it should enable me to remove the key and the kill switch off the gsxr wiring and solder it into the smart.

this is for a 01 to 03 model it seems

Parts:

100 Ohm Resistor, 1/2 watt, 5% tolerance: Radio Shack part 271-1108
18-20 Gauge Wire (two different colors)
Electrical Tape

I soldered all of the connections. If you would rather use connectors and
a crimping tool, you will need to have a supply on hand. I am not sure how
one would install the resistor with out a soldering iron.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the legend for the various wires involved in the re-wiring:

Wire Colors and Functions (Right Handle Switch (Kill Switch)):

O/B (Orange with Black Tracer) -- Kill Switch
O/W (Orange with White Tracer) --

Wire Colors and Functions (Key Switch):

Br (Brown) - Tail Light
B/W (Black with White Tracer) - Ground
Gr (Gray) - Instrument Cluster Light and Horn
O (Orange) - Ignition
O/W (Orange with White Tracer) - Cooling Fan
O/Y (Orange with Yellow Tracer) - ECU
R (Red) - Power (+12v)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Removal:

The first step is to remove the two wiring harnesses that will be
modified: the key switch and the right clip-on switch cluster. Find and
disconnect the connectors that connect these harnesses to the main wiring
harness. The key switch has two connectors along the right frame spar.
The right clip-on switch cluster has a connector just in front of the
radiator on the right side. You will have to open some zip ties and a
clamp to get the harnesses free.

To remove the key switch, you will have to take off the top triple clamp
and remove the two tamper resistant Torx bolts. I do not have the correct
Torx bits so I drilled the heads of the bolts off. To remove the right
clip-on switch cluster, you will need to disconnect the throttle cables
from the cluster.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Switch Harness Modification:

This one is actually quite simple. Start by cutting all the wires 2" from
the main connector. Cut the Br and Gr wires at the connector so they are
slightly recessed since they will not be used. Cut the O/Y and B/W wires
to 1" in length and solder a lead of the 100 Ohm resistor to each wire.
Insulate the wires and resistor with Electrical tape to keep the O/Y and
B/W wires and resistor leads from touching. Leave the R and O wires at 2"
for now.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right Clip-on Switch Cluster Harness Modification:

The goal here is to re-wire this harness so the circuit the kill switch
normally controls is always connected (run) and to have two wires coming
out of the harness connected to the kill switch.

In the run position, the kill switch completes a circuit between the O/B
and O/W wires. The O/W wire actually connects to the starter button and
the kill switch. A "Y" is formed about 4 inches down the wiring harness
from the switch. Cut into the sheath and find where the O/W wire forms the
"Y" and cut the O/W wire that leads to the kill switch. Cut the O/B wire
at the same point in the harness and solder it to the O/W running to the
Starter Switch. Run a pair of wires through the sheath and connect them to
the O/W and and O/B wires from the kill switch. Leave about 3" of wire
hanging out from the sheath at the connector end. Use electrical tape to
insulate all of the connections and to cover the cut in the sheath.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Putting it All Together:

Take the key switch harness and right clip-on switch cluster harness
connectors and plug them into the corresponding connectors on the main
wiring harness. Look at the R and O wires coming from the key switch
harness and the two unconnected wires coming from the right clip-on switch
cluster harness. If needed, cut the appropriate amount of wire from the
right clip-on switch cluster harness to allow for an uncluttered
connection.

Unplug the key switch harness and right clip-on switch cluster harness
connectors. Connect the R wire from the key switch harness to an
unconnected wire from the right clip-on switch cluster harness. Connect
the O wire from the key switch harness to the other unconnected wire from
the right clip-on switch cluster harness. Use electrical tape to insulate
all of the connections.

Put the kill switch in the "stop" position and plug the connectors in
again. Put the kill switch in the "run" position. The bike should power on
and be ready to start. Try starting the bike. If it starts, you are just
about done.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finishing Up:

Reinstall the right clip-on switch cluster and clean up the wiring harness
connections.

That's it......

will let you know if it works..

« on: February 07, 2009, 04:52:06 PM »
I have been keeping a watch on whats been going on and I have had afew pm's complaining about a certain member. Now I'm all for letting people voice there opinons but when i get so many complaints and it seems what was once a pleasent and friendly forum has for the first time had to be moderated and I have even had to delete a few post.. sorry this is not what this forum is all about.

I will not tolerate this sort of posting and for this reason I have banned clones r us. I have never met him and dont have anything against him.. but I'm not having these forums going like so many others have.

Buy and Sell Forum / Ferrari sill plates and door plates
« on: December 01, 2008, 10:09:29 PM »
I got afew done for my DNA and have just had a count up of what I have left.

These are £55 including postage for sill plates and door plates. Pic's below

I have put a tape measure next to them so you can see how big they are. They come with doublesided tape on them so its just a case of cleaning your sill up and sticking it on.

I do not know if they will fit the extreme 360.. hence the tape measure !.. lol

I have 4 left...

Extreme Murcie / Rear Spoiler :-)
« on: November 06, 2008, 07:41:36 PM »
Got my linear actuator in the post today from USA, this one I ordered is a 4" one so its too big really for the rear spoiler but its smaller brother I'm expecting anytime should be spot on. This will raise and lower the rear spoiler depending on the speed I'm doing.

Really looking forward to getting it all working :-) I might be tempted to sell the kit (bat wing / rear spoiler controller)

Extreme Smart Car / Suspension
« on: November 02, 2008, 08:00:54 PM »
Well anyone thats been out in extremes project smartcar will know it needs its suspension uprating as its like being in a boat.. lol

I have been looking into gettng some of these, infact I'm 99% sure and just wanted other peoples views before the wallet comes out.

http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=3663879

There just over £200 for a full set of springs and shocks which I didnt think was a bad price at all. I could just change the springs for £100 but whilst its all apart you might as well stick some new shocks on. I would be also doing the brakes but they have just been done before I got the car so no need on them.

Meets and Events / merchandise and events...
« on: November 02, 2008, 04:58:17 PM »
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in getting some t-shirts etc.. type of things done, I think it would look good at shows.

As some of you may or may not know I also set up and run the DNA Owners club. There is also a club called the italian replica club, now when I had my dna  car I first approached this club and all I wanted was to just put up the dna oc flag that we had done, they said no and that was that. So since then if DNAOC were attending any events we had our own stand. Now I have an extreme and also run this site I thought it would be good if extreme and dna sort of joined forces at shows and stood next to each other as I think a group of ferrari's etc would draw more attention. I am unsure if these two owners clubs should come under a main one which could also include say DJ360's etc.. I think thats for everyone to decide.

I think if both clubs can just be put next to each other then this would be enough without inventing another club like 'the real italian replica club' or TRIRP .. lol It just means when booking we just make sure with get a big enough pitch for both.

Now I dont want to step on anyones toes and Drew355 was running an extreme oc well before I turned up so he has the last say on all of this..

As for merchandise.. I think just extreme tshirts / jackets etc. would be fine and I could point the dna owners to the same supplier so we would sort of look the same but now.. lol

let me know what you all think, in the end if someone has put there heart and sole in to building a car then it doesnt matter what it is they are more than welcome to stick it on any pitch I have and let poeple look at it.
