I've spot welded the new screen support in, put a number of cuts along the roof and bent it up to touch the new fiber glass roof....  still need to weld in some 25mm box above the new screen. ;)

On the rear sub frame I've just tacked the back plate and the new floor on for now will all get welded up properly later...

The hinges for the engine bay are off a Volvo 440 hatch back.

On my car i had to re-weld the hinge brackets on the other side of the rear sub frame and then bolt the 440 hinges on to the brackets (with a few washers to pack the engine cover back to line up with the rear quarters and the bumper.)

Engine cover all lined up nicely.... ;D

I then cut the rear arches,

I did this by having the rear quarters on and with a marker pen draw round level..

i cut the outer skin off with the 4" grinder with a 1.5mm disc...

Then cut up the inner skin every 1 inch 1/2 and bent it over the outer skin....

i then seam welded it all up.... :)

Got to do a few hours on the car on Sunday, thought i would post a few photos of my progress.

Cut both the front cill's back so when the side skirts go on you can't see them, plus it gives you more lock/clearance for the wheels.

Took about 30mm off of the outside cill and may be 10mm of the inside cill.

what i cut off the inner cill i flattened out, shaped and seam welded it back on.

On the outside cill's  i  cut both sides at the same time so that the left hand outer cill swapped over with the right hand one. This way you have the perfect fit and it sits back inside the cill.

once the outer cill was welded back on i Then welded the outer one to the inner one. Even stronger than before  Grin

I then welded up the cills where i cut and knocked them in for the new 430 doors to open into

O and of course painted it with that all important red oxide primer  Grin

Think I'm now up to date  :D  not bad Two years building in 3 nights  :D  ;D

So far I have had about 16-20 full days on the car. So I'm not that slow... really  :D  :D  ;D

But in that two years I've had a big operation on both my wrists for carpal tunnel, i had 3 months off work (I'm a joiner by trade, I specialize in oak joinery... stairs, bi-fold doors, round top doors etc) so no building for about 5 months...

My wife fell pregnant with are first child, so had to get the house ready for her.
New kitchen, new tiled floor in the kitchen, hall bath room etc etc... I then had to get the nursery done.

Meantime I was made redundant from my job (that was the company's van i pick up the kit in) lucky i found a new job very quickly, Grate company now love the job (browns joinery leominster  www.brownscarpentry.com ) doing all oak work again  :D....

Then my wife gave birth in feb this year to my baby girl Chloe... love her to bits. makes it hard to leave them both in the morning to go work on my car....

so there are my excuses  ;D  ;D  :D  ;)

Had a good day on the car today.... didn't get as far as i wanted but I'm very pleased with the result.  ;D

I got the passenger cill all welded up side skirt on, wing fitted and gaps look good. Had to tweak the door back a bit and shave a few mm of the bottom edge but no prob's as have not bonded it yet. ;)

I refitted the drivers side quarter panel and tweaked the passenger rear so all lines up nicely with the engine cover.

Run out of time to re-line up the front bumper but i will do that next time.    ;D  :D
