Extreme Vanquish
« on: August 08, 2008, 10:53:04 PM »
Any updates anyone?

All i know is that they've molded the panels and are now fitting them to the supra.
They are using a vanquish S boot lid (coool!)
And that no-one is allowed to see their progress until it's at least 90% complete, which i take it means that it's not yet 90% complete!

Trouble with the wheelbase difference perhaps?

Anyone wanna guess on the kit price?

I'm looking forward to seeing this one too, might build this one next, after i've finished my 360.

Anyone heard wether Extreme are keeping the hatch layout or converting to Vanquish style boot?

Wouldn't mind seeing a couple of progress snaps ;)

I was speaking with Extreme as well as others in a different thread and informed that the Supra is not that hard to find in salvage or catching a sale here or there.  I am thinking the Extreme will probably go with the one that has the closest numbers which is the '92 but the '93's body (visually) would be the easier to decide on but by the numbers the '92 is the closest though you get a bit more performance from the '93.  Here is what I have so far:

                                92 Supra          AM Vanquish-S        93 Supra

Horsepower                 200                                             220
Torque                        188                                             210

Wheel base (in)            102.2              105.9                     100.4
Length (in)                   181.9              183.7                     177.7
Width (in)                    68.7                75.7                      71.3
Height (in)                   51.2                51.9                      50.2

360-I am going to go out on a limb and say since Extreme goes for a replica in adverse to a kit we may be looking at the actual Vanquish boot (trunk lid).  Either way it goes the AM is what they are working on and so far that is fine by me.

sc80-Is the 599 what you are finding the donor Supra at?  Or did I misunderstand what you were saying?

What about a BMW, rear wheel drive lots of engine options and the three series should be about the right size.

Anyone ever heard of a Toyota Centry? ??? Its Japan's own home market luxury car. The Second generation of which (1997-present day) is fitted with a 5ltr V12 Toyota engine!!! :P Really ugly car and not very powerful, but "Top Secret"  have squeezed over 1000hp (and 249mph) out of one of these engines fitted  into their Supra!!! Toyota chassis, Toyota V12 engine, extreme body, Mercie or Vanquish.....now there's a thought! lol!! Would cost more to convert than buy a real supercar but hey, sounds awesome though!!!

Dont know what Badging would be supplied with this kit (if any) as I'm new to kitcars and replicas, So i started bidding on ebay for a 'genuine' vanquish boot and bonnet badge... The bidding is now up to more than £200.00 for the set, which is more than my insurance excess so I popped into my local Aston Martin Dealership spares department..

Vanquish Boot badge, new -  £42.00
Aston Martin Bonnet Badge, new - £50.00

The pair of them, secondhand from ebay.. currently £205.00.. someone is onto a winner here :-)

i heard that the price of real ones are depreciating rapidly on top gear at the weekend this might not worth being done. if it takes a year or 2 to complete then the real ones will be so close to replica price the resale value will be low. the gallardo is worth being started first awsome looking car

Vanquish original price was about 250K$ USD....now selling on ebay for as low as 85K$ USD....

Newer Vantage (V8) is selling for as low as 71K$ USD on ebay as well...
http://www.ecarlist.com/showroom/995/photos/192625#02.jpg

A newer DB9 (V12) for 70K USD!! wow...

Even with authentic AMs selling for cut rate prices the thing to consider is how muh maintenance will cost you in the long run, than owning a toyota...

Anyone have any speculation on the price of the kit?
