Lloydmeister Build Pics
« on: July 07, 2009, 12:50:56 PM »
Car in my drive at the moment, trying to find indoor storage (cheap)

Not very clean.  Here I am wiring the rear lights up.

Coilovers and new drop links fitted.

Coilovers under load.  Mmmh.?

Engine bay with universal cold air induction kit fitted.

Door cards ready to fit.

Centre Console.

Side grills, made from Ally mesh (hammerite then matt sprayed), strange but gives a powder coated effect..

Looks good. You mentioned storage.

Where are you? There are plenty of storage places around.

I had mine in storage for a number of months in Accrington, it was a couple of years ago, cost £83 per month inc insurance. There are places on the web advertising from £15/week, don't think you'd get much cheaper.

Before I had mine stripped and re-painted I had it stored outside under £250 quids worth of breathable cover (I live in Huddersfield where it rains a lot). After a winter I took the cover off to find it covered in water blisters. Never again will I leave it out.

I've found the company where I had it stored at - http://www.autoarchive.co.uk, also see http://www.lancashirecarstorage.co.uk who are advertising from £15 per week

hi Lloyd, I take it that's the original centre console from the pug! what type of silver spray did you use on it? looks very effective.

I filled the crazed effect of the original console. You know one of those jobs you start and wish you had not, but no turning back. Primed and sprayed with regular hycote auto spray paint.

Nice job on the car mate, I like the console as well looks like it was worth the effort. What you doing about the handbrake? will this be improved as well.

MMMh have not thought that far!!! :-\

Although I did see some aftermarket kit at CBS that might do.  Some more planning required me' thinks.

Finally got the lights working!  Thanks to Nigel and a bit of fault finding (poor earthes)..

Also fit the engine cover gas struts bought from struts direct.  No more bits of wood! ;D  I had to modifty the top mounting bracket slightly so the strut could go level when cover is closed.  NOTE:  make sure your engine cover does not catch the edge of the roof at full height (oops) :-\

I bought a Memfast tool to put rivnuts in the cover and box section.  Here I countersunk the rivnut into the metal strip so it gripped onto box section underneath.  Put a washer on the nipple and screwed it straight in worked a treat.

Just a little question, the bottem right side of your rear bumper looks slightly crimped. did you run into something?
It might just be the pic, if so I'll shut up now!!!

The wifes car went for drive on it's own. She swears that she left the handbrake on!! You can see in the first picture that the drive starts off pretty steep.

SD02-250 was the strut I bought. I had to vent alot of gas to get equilibrium.  I will share exact bracket details too. Although the engine cover is solid there is still a little flex. I fixed the brackets as shown because this allowed me to use rivnuts and reduce the Bracket misalignment/offset to the minimum.
